This is a huge beautiful old tree that sets off the front of the courthouse. No matter what your feelings are of it's purpose at the time - it's still a grand old tree.

Sturdy oak tree. I would expect it could hold my weight, should I be convicted of a crime. I would see this in conjunction with the town square, the courthouse and after eating "that last meal"

We were there to stay at the Presidio so had to tour the town. This was worth a look. A very old tree that could sure tell some tales.

If this tree could talk...Could you imagine all the things she would tell us about TX history? To be honest though, she's only a tree. Beautiful to have in front of the court house. They do have other tress all around the court house, but this one is the big one.

One can feel the passion and the fear that centered around this tree. Could use more descriptive signing to make it easier to notice. Part of the courthouse square and a part of the history of Goliad.

Two must sees on the square in Goliad! The Goliad County Courthouse, one of the best in Texas, and the stunning "Hanging Tree" on the grounds of the courthouse. This tree is huge and just beautiful all by itself. Justice was served quickly back in the day and the limbs of this tree provide a glimpse of history.

A couple of blocks off Highway 59 running through Goliad is its old town square. Restaurants, shops, businesses line the square. The courthouse, built in 1896, is there in the center of the square among the ancient oaks trees. One of these trees is the Hanging Tree. There are also several historical markers of events and people important to the Texas Revolution against Mexico.

This is the Court house and the hanging tree(very old oak tree) is on the north lawn of the court house. It has been restored and it is interesting to walk through it.
