This location is a must for any runners visiting Houston and wants to be amongst other runners. It's a gravel trail loop that can be accessed from Buffalo Bayou trails.

Fantastic park! Who would have known that Houston has all these gorgeous parks... something everyone should know about Houston. Great for an early morning stroll.

Went here on a Wednesday so it was rather quiet overall. The parking is not free along the park so ensure you pay via the app or at the machine to avoid getting a ticket.

Total time to walk around the entirety of the park is 2 hours when you factor in stopping to take pictures, enjoy the views, etc...

Wow! We were so pleasantly surprised today by the newly renovated area of Memorial park.

We had initially intended to visit the Arboretum area, but decided to grab a bite to eat. Then we were looking for a picnic table and caught a glimpse of this newer section of the park.

“ Eastern Glades: 100 acres of formerly inaccessible parkland transformed into a natural environment, complete with trails and boardwalks that wind through wetlands to a 5-acre lake.”

There was a section nearby with parking, picnic tables and clean restrooms.

After lunch we walked on the trails along this new area. Really pretty on this sunny and warm (in the 70s) winter day!

I used to live in Houston and was more of a frequent visitor to the park. I now live out in Sugar Land. If these improvements are any indication of things to come for Memorial Park, we will make a point to return many times in the future.

We explored the newly opened Eastern Glades area inside the park and found it to be lovely. Unfortunately, it was a lot more crowded than we anticipated (and almost no one was wearing masks), so our stay was briefer than hoped for. We actually had to ask several people where to find the Glades because we never saw any signs. But once there, it was beautiful, with winding paths around the lake and lovely views everywhere. Lots of places to sit and we saw many families actually sitting on blankets on the grass enjoying food. Parking was easy but there was a (minimal) charge - $1.20 for 3 hours and you could pay at a meter or using the ParkMobile app. Can’t wait to go back.

We've long thought of Memorial Park as a great place to run, but the opening of the new section of the park called the Eastern Glades has really created a gorgeous oasis within an urban environment. The Eastern Glades has beautiful Hines Lakes, natural plantings, covered pavilions, chalkboards for the kids, winding pathways, and the chance to see a little native wildlife like herons, egrets, and butterflies. I only wish there were canoes or paddle boats for rent so you could get out on the water. There is a fee for parking, but very affordable, and they take both cash and credit cards. There are stations where you can refill your water bottles, and there are also restrooms, although those are currently closed. If you're looking for a place to escape from the city and enjoy a picnic or stroll along the water, this spot is hard to beat. We're so happy to have this lovely new addition to Memorial Park.

Der Memorial Park ist eine gute Gelegenheit in Houston einen angenehmen Spaziergang zu machen! Es gibt zahlreiche Wege, da kann man gut die Ruhe und ein wenig Einsamkeit genießen :)

My dad is a triathlete, so he is very familiar with the parks and trails in Houston. I have run the main track many times, but had never been to the wooded trails. After living In Alaska we are always looking for outdoor activities. The trails are really fun, and if you mountain bike, you will enjoy it. You forget you are in the city. There are a few options to choose from, just don’t go after it’s rained, unless you don’t mind getting muddy.
