Uneasy ride... could be super convenient
Trip on light rail this morning from Montrose area to Astrodome:

- Visitor in town for a convention
- $1.25 fare! Yay!
- Beat traffic and saved $15 parking at NRG
- Shouting lady on drugs who had soiled herself was scary at platform then rides 8 stops... medical district nurses on the platforms looked very nervous.
- Seemingly mentally ill man talked to me for 20 minutes going from story to story oddly related to his past with his father and grandfather and things I was doing. He left his shirt on the train. He got off after 10 stops or so and starting digging through the trash bin for food.
- Smell + trash on the car = disgusting ride. One lady brought her own 20 gallon plastic trash bag to sit on so she didn't have to use the seat.
- No police on train or stations, no one checks fares

Lots of potential, very uneasy feeling. Would not recommend for my daughters. Not sure compassion = mentally ill stuck on the streets. Eye opening in Houston. I think Houston could do better than this. Infrastructure of the system and routes seems like a good start. Many other cities have gotten this right.

My life is so miserable since you took away line 33. It's horrible everyday that I have to go work transfer to the metro at westpark, before was so much easier and saved time.

Miserable on the metro
The absolute most unreliable and disgusting electric rail line that ever existed. I use it daily but it’s awful. The times of red line station arrivals are never correct. Intervals also don’t match metros advertised intervals. Trains are gross and full of homeless people. Most of the trains’ AC’s don’t work in late June in Houston. You’d expect more from the 4th largest city in America but then again, Houston can’t ever do things correctly

The 82 line at 5:45am

I did not like the way this driver did a running motion to me while he pulled off...I expect public transport providers to treat us with dignity. When I run for a bus this early, I got to be at work early too! I can’t understand why he left me making this motion, after all his bus had only 4 passengers or so in it.... be kind to people or else karma will get you.... thanks to the driver of line 46 at 6:03am we got to work on time!!!!

Cheapest transportation in Houston.

I and other locals in Houston use Metro. The reason is the prices.Regarding the people from other towns, you may study on the Metro Website before you ride it.I use rail services, The rail system covers many of the important spots such as MinuteMaid Park, Georgia Brown Convention center, Medical Center, Rice University, and others. If you want to save money in Houston, please study and use Metro.

Houston Metro Light Rail Rip Off
Machines took our money twice and never gave us tickets or refunds.
First time the machine spit out one ticket for the purchase of three. It said there were no more tickets and my money would be refunded....which it wasn’t.
Second time the machine said “error” and would cancel the transaction...yet again it charge my card and no refund.
Both times the two differ machines, on opposite ends of the system, refused my credit and debit cards and luckily I had a third card with me.
Neither would it take $5 cash to purchase 3 tickets, and would not take our crisp $1 bills most of the time.
Added to this frustration the train stalled between stations for 20 minutes and we could not exit.

NEVER on Time and Dangerous to Ride
The buses are always LATE, especially 82, 65, and 161. And when they arrive a few minutes before the arrival time, they don’t wait until the arrival time, they pull off and leave you. Unfair treatment to the riders indeed. If you can drive and have a car, rely on yourself to get to your destination on time without having to ride with psychopaths

cool system

Have ridden on the Houston Metro system several times since 2013. It is convenient for traveling from downtown to Hermann Park, the zoo, and Reliant Stadium. It is affordable and travels frequently. On my recent trip in December 2018 I never waited more than 10 minutes for the train.
The system is good for traveling from downtown to areas within 5 or 10 miles of the city center. You cannot ride to the outlying suburban areas. I felt very safe on this system and will gladly ride again.
