Love this place where Matt and Dave Eagle produce some amagzing cheeses. We love Apache buzz which has an outside layer of ground coffee and Caraway to Heaven. Give them a try if you haven't already.

We love Eagle Mountain Cheese and it's owner Dave Eagle. Current favorite a Gouda style with ground coffee exterior called Apache Buzz. Love this place enough to take a three day artisanal cheese making class.

As others have already stated... these cheeses are "out of this world" good! Made from un pasteurized raw milk which is also locally sourced, this father and son team use old fashioned European techniques combined with modern refrigeration to create natural unspoiled cheeses that are phenomenal. Definitely worth the short drive outside of Granbury.

On this visit we purchased Apache bleu which we both really love. Also Old Granbury Limited Edition, Drunken Monk (whiskey infused) and Apache buzz which has ground coffee beans on the exterior.
For those really into cheese Dave offers beginning cheese making classes (3 days) and advanced cheese making.(3 days). Twice yearly. If you haven't been check this place out.

If you love "off the beaten trail" shops. I have a good one near Granbury, TX. It is called Eagle Mountain Farmhouse Cheese - started by a lawyer who always wanted to make cheese, AND he has done so!!!! Located on FM 4 out of Granbury, TX - about 16 miles. They have several types but I liked the brie aged 6 months - also Birdville Reserve and Apache Buzz (a bit of coffee added). Worth the drive and visiting with owner's son Dave.
There is local bakery across the street but not open during school holidays!

Driving from Granbury to Bluff Dale Winery, we put Eagle Mountain artesian cheeses on our route. It was a very nice drive trough typical Texas scrub landscape in late winter and early spring. You could miss Eagle Mountain Cheeses, but probably won't as it is on the main route which has basically one intersection. Look for their sign, but do check if they will be open as this is a family venture. We walked in on a day they were making cheeses and production partially stopped as the gracious maker/tasting expert let us sample a number of their cheeses. She let us try cheeses in what a wine enthusiast would call a "tasting flight" - explaining the characteristics of each cheese and inviting tasting comparisons. We bought 3 different cheeses. One was a cheese, they normally sell-out of very quickly as advance orders normally take each batch -Tomme de Lipan. So stop, taste, enjoy, purchase and take home to recreate and relive a memory (or make one) with your favorite wine knowing very few are able to do the same. Farm to market to your table and artesian versus mass produced.

I had read about this place in two different magazines. They sell organic cheese and their methods are impeccable! They also have classes occasionally. We really enjoyed our trip out to their shop. They are very close to Granbury, Texas. We met the owner and had a great visit! Be SURE to call before you drive as their hours vary.
