The Comedy Corral of Almagro was built in 1628, is located in the Plaza Mayor of Almagro, when you enter you are admired of the construction all wood, with many balconies or boxes to see the theater, currently has theater activity for much of the year. You can say it's unique in the world. Recommended visit.

Every year my wife and I go to Almagro, with friends, on the occasion of the July theater festival. We love the atmosphere and we love the theater. Just a dissenting note: except in some square, the city is missing more shade trees. They would relieve the torrid heat of the day and beautify an already beautiful city. Mr. Mayor and Srs. City Councillors, please plant shade trees in your city. It would be very appreciated

Immerse yourself in the past by sitting in the stalls or on the chairs on the upper floors, along the galleries that served as stages. It is the oldest theater in Almagro. Completely restored, well explained, it offers a faithful reconstruction of a work that has evolved over time but which allows us to glimpse the simplicity and beauty of a site that was first and foremost a meeting place. And you can understand the enthusiasm for an art, theatre, which is still lived here today

El Corral is a treasure, but the work "The Altarpiece of Wonders" by the permanent company is poor for lovers of good theater. Better to go see a prestigious performance in July, or simply pay a visit to the building.

The Almagro Theater Festival and enjoying the Corral de Comedias is the richest experience of our lives. Thirty-eight years attending, always in July with a lot of heat but beauty endures everything. and the Classical Theater deserves it.

Small rectangular area with multi level balconies with chairs. The local is clean, well maintained. I don’t think it is worth it to pay an entrance.

As its name indicates, comedy corrals in the 17th century were places where plays were performed (regardless of whether they were comedies or dramas).
It is the perfect place to enjoy a good classic play.
The theater maintains its originality as it is: wooden and wicker chairs for spectators, a stalls surrounded by upper boxes, ... to be preserved there are not even toilets (just as they were in the past).
It is outdoors, although it has a sliding awning for bad weather.
Seeing a photo of its interior, you can get the idea.
It is the perfect place to enjoy a good classic play.

Es una maravilla de sitio. Está cuidado, arreglado, mantiene su esencia, el sonido es perfecto ya que no se oye nada del exterior y es un lujo que podamos verlo y haya llegado hasta nuestros días.

As the only open air theatre in Spain we decided to visit it . Unfortunately we could only buy a ticket for the theatre and the convent at 5 euros and with only 30 mins to see both before the 2 pm closing time. Waiting until 5 pm for them to both reopen. Not to miss the opportunity we paid for our entry to see the theatre as that was why we had called into this town on our way to Toledo. Quite impressive and amazingly restored for continual use. Disappointingly we couldn’t use the other half of our tickets but did attempt to view the Palacio which we were told was free to enter… however it had closed early .. and isn’t free. But hey it’s sunny Spain.
