Beautiful area with lots of views. Campsite 11 was perfect. No water in Lake Travis currently but still so serene. Unfortunately, it was ruined by a man on some flying machine. Instead of bird calls we woke up to loud motor sounds at 6:30 AM by this man flying his loud contraption around the whole park and then again at 7pm in the evening. Definitely ruined the peace and quiet we came out here for.

This was an excellent adventure. Hard to find as there is no sign at the turn off Texas 71. This place was a hiker's dream. Lots of elevation gain and views. Good trails but could have been marked better. There was a large primitive campground with sites overlooking the lake. Have the correct amount of cash for your entry fees and camping fees. There is no formal "entrance station" just a box to drop your fees in. Honor system so be nice. Horses are allowed on some trails here and there is an equestrian area

My husband and I camped in spot #11 for one night over an October weekend. Grelle is a primitive campground (no running water, electricity, rentals or any other amenities) on one of the coves off of Lake Travis. The cove was almost completely dry when we were there which left a nice valley meadow for exploring, hiking and kite and drone flying. Depending on the water level, you may have to walk quite a way from the campground to fish or kayak. #11 is the best campsite with great views and the most secluded, followed by #1 and #18. The rest of the sites are fairly close together, and since there isn't much brush you can sometimes easily hear other people's conversations. Each campsite has a fire pit (check for a burn ban before using), lantern hook, picnic table, plenty of shade under the oaks, but no tent pads. I only saw one pit toilet in our area, and it was pretty old and rank - it was stocked with toilet paper though! If you're into hiking the park has extensive trails (the park host has maps).
The campers were mostly families, and it was nice to see everyone respecting quiet hours. We saw some waterfowl roaming around - herons, cranes, ducks - and were awakened by the howls of coyote packs in the distance. You can really only see one house from the campground and barely hear 71 in the distance, so it's just enough to make you feel like you're in the country. All in all, a pleasant and relaxing weekend getaway from the city.

Really liked our spot at #11. They call it the point because it looks out over everything. We don’t fish but it must be good here. People came at all hours to throw out a line. The hiking trails are worth the effort. May be challenging for some but trails are mostly dirt and not gravel, which I prefer. We saw fawns frolicking in the pasture across the water. It was so cute.

Great park to spend some time hiking / spending some timing enjoying the sights, if you want to explore with your dogs or just hike for hours this is the right place. Also lake water is up and it's just an amazing view ! You have to see it!!!!!

A bit of a drive from Austin but nice small well maintained LCRA park and campground on shores of lake. Pit toilets and no services but great place to get away, camp, swim, fish. Next door to Krause Springs attraction but you would have to drive over due to fences and other barriers.

Were the lake levels up nice enough to pitch the tent near the water? Is there running water, or do you have to bring it in?

Water levels are up.. way up ... it's gonna look so different if you came to this park when it was completely dry. (Bring water)
