a nice mid-sized aquarium

We visited here recently and enjoyed it. This is a nice mid-sized aquarium with many interesting exhibits, including a small shark tank and some jellies (my favorite). I enjoyed seeing the placards of all 18 species of penguin displayed on a wall along with a chart showing their relative size—quite a range in size among them all! We liked that they had other residents here besides marine animals. We did not see the binturong, but the clouded leopard was very easy to view in his glass enclosure.

There is a café here with a good variety of snacks & hot food for sale (we did not eat there). The entire outdoor plaza was closed off and inaccessible. We spent about 90 minutes here in all.

Sunday escape from heat.

A wonderful place to visit. We visited on the Sunday before we headed home. Loved all the exhibits, especially the tunnel thru the shark tank.

Something for everyone

Our family went with grandparents, parents, and grandchildren. Everyone had fun 1 1/2 to 60+ years old. There is a wide variety of creatures, a playland and more.

Get the yearly pass if you live nearby

Pricy but enjoyable

If you can get over the admission price, the aquarium is very nice. There are lots of amazing displays and a few interactive sessions as well. The kids enjoyed it.

Great displays, but very expensive

The exhibits are surprisingly good for an inland aquarium and some of the most impressive that I've seen (even having grown up in New England). Lots of interactive and hands-on activities as well to make it very family friendly, even if a little Covidly sketchy.

My main issue is with the cost. 50 bucks for myself and my 4 year old is way too much to enjoy on a regular basis and is prohibitively high for many families. The annual memberships are similarly steep and clearly geared toward "utah sized" families; it would actually be the cheapest for the 3 of us to buy our own separate memberships than to buy a family membership, though still not 'cheap' by any means. I do hope that more accessible, cost-effective options can be introduced in the future so that more people can enjoy the amazing displays, because they really are well worth the time.

Worth a visit

Great aquarium but super busy in the morning. I overheard the gift shop lady say the afternoons are quieter so next time, we'll go then. Great facility

Great aquarium

My husband and I love zoos and aquariums and we almost missed this one during our trip to Salt Lake City. Our friend luckily knew about it and told us to go. This aquarium is set up really well you go to the separate sections from the lobby and then exit them into the lobby so there is no way to miss a section. Staff was helpful, exhibits were great and it much bigger than you think. We did not stay for any of the outside activities but they have an old U2 stage that they do outdoor activities on. Pricing is fair was 20$ an adult to get in.

Not a good place to visit

The only AZA animal site where there is no knowledgeable person to explain. We had to struggle to find somebody.
Also the only AZA place where no AZA discount is provided no AAA discount. We could not see many animals the first time. So we visited again in 48 hours and paid the full price.

The aquarium opened in 2014 but still hasn’t set up for AZA discount.

Being a aquarium I’m not sure why there are housing animals such as clouded leopard and binturong especially when they are rarely outside on exhibit. We waited almost 2 hours and still could not see them outside.

Nobody seems to know what is going on. May be not a good enclosure ( not very big) for animals.

Disappointing. Lackluster service, hot and crowded

Could be great, but seems to strive for average. The building is well-designed and intriguing. The animals are beautiful and always worth seeing. However, the employees are almost always uncaring. We are members, but will probably not renew. Recently we saw there were plenty of opening (dozens) all day long for reservations. We committed the unpardonable sin of showing up without a reservation, even though it did not appear to be a high-demand day. We were not allowed in. However, we could step aside and make a reservation (for that exact moment and time), then try again, and miraculously, we could walk right in. Why couldn't the employee have let us in? She also has a panel with all four family members pictures on it right in front of her. All four of us were standing in front of her, and our pictures were right in front of her too, but still she asked, "who is with you today?" Inside the employees we did see were indifferent, but all did not seem to care. I expect more from a nonprofit and especially better treatment for members. We could really get behind this place, if we ever felt they cared.
