This is the perfect place to get great coffee and spectacular sandwiches. This is a general store that has grocery items, gifts, housewares, great deli, baked goods and much more. Traveling through the Isles this is a great stop and has seating across the street overlooking the lake. There is also a post office attached if needed.

A great general store that has so many Made In Vermont items. There is something for everyone, from books, toys, snacks, quilts, t shirts, wine, candy, housewares, Vermont Maple Syrup, and even a deli. Such a fun stop on a rainy day. Great for souvenirs, and ice cream too.

Stopped in for lunch on a Saturday. Got the sod buster sandwich and the Gentleman Johnny wrap. Both were fresh, yummy, and delicious. There are tables inside so you can sit down and enjoy your meal. The general store itself is amazing with something for everyone. The only reason I'm not giving it a 5 bubble is because when I was ordering the food the young girl behind the counter asked what type of wrap I wanted for my wife, I told her I needed to check with my wife and she rolled her eyes and sighed. Not realizing my wife was standing beside me, we answered her question immediately. Maybe she was having a bad day but if this is her normal attitude I would advise management to remove her from the front line. As we were waiting for our sandwiches we saw her give the same treatment to the couple ordering after us. Hopefully this is a one off because this is a great store with a lot to offer.

Interesting stop as we drove through the islands. Staff appeared to be mostly high school or college kids, all energetic and helpful. Crew behind the sandwich counter made up a good choice of fresh sandwiches. Had the champ in a wrap and was disappointed. Filling was good and lettuce fresh but the wrap was old, dry, cracked and falling apart. We were able to sit across the road at the little patio overlooking the lake. That was nice.

Excellent general store with wonderful merchandise. Amazing sandwiches - huge and delicious. Friendly and helpful staff. Fun products. Great location.

The TripAdvisor description implies this is a gift shop with Vermont goods--so does the shop's website. If the goods you're looking for are maple syrup, wines, and food items, this might be the place you want. We found it crowded, difficult to navigate with narrow aisles in a narrow space. Definitely not accessible, and the toilets are two porta-potties tucked outside on the side of the main building. The small seating area is outside, across the highway, overlooking the lake. It's a lovely location but there's only seating for about 8-10 people at two tables.
This is a modern take on an old-fashioned general store. The front of the main building (No 1) is like a tight coffee, drink, and bulk candy shop with no tables. It's hard to get through and we found it almost impossible to make our way to the back sections with all the folk queueing in the front for the only register in the building. There's no room for any social distancing throughout the store, so if you're at risk, wear a mask.
The next section is food stuffs organised like a library with three stacks (again, narrow aisles). There's a small wine nook adjacent to a larger wine and beverage section. We would have been interested in looking at the the wines, but the three people in this section pretty much took up all the space available. The section following the food and wines is for cooking tools, towels, and lots of doodads. Again, we were looking for Vermont-made products and didn't find any. The farthest back section is the 'Gift Shop' which was an interesting walk-through with jewelry (mostly from India), some wood products (like some nice little puzzles boxes), an eclectic selection of children's items, and lots of Vermont hoodies, sweatshirts, and hats. We might have made a purchase, but the thought of slaloming through the sections back to the front to stand in a long queue just to buy two items really didn't appeal, so we left.
As we drove out (which is only done by making a 'U' around the back of building No 1) we found buildings 2-5 which appeared to house boat rentals, bike rentals, and ice cream. We didn't stop there either. All-in-all, it was a disappointment. We deducted one star for the difficulty navigating the store, and another for what we consider a misleading description.

Étape incontournable si vous traversez le Vermont par le lac Champlain et ses îles. Ce lieu atypique ( qui dispose d’un parc de stationnement gratuit et de toilettes ), est à la fois un snack à sandwich, pâtisserie, boisson et bonbon, mais également une boutique pour magaziner car on y trouve toute sorte d’objets insolites et atypiques. Possibilité de manger sur des tables avec parasols de l’autre côté de la route, face au lac. Inoubliable

Hero's welcome is your best bet for groceries, beer and goodies from Vermont if you are in or around North Hero. They also have a deli and make some of the best sandwiches around!

Fast, efficient service. Nice to see they are not taking advantage of tourists. We got two sodas, a bag of chips and a really generous and tasty turkey sandwich for $11. Eating at the tables across the street is very relaxing.
