Big Falls on Father's Day, 2020
Easy to find (using either Google Maps & our car's navigation system) and worth the trip. Limited parking (5-6 cars) at the 'trailhead', but you can find additional parking further down the road and enjoy a longer hike to the falls. A very short & easy walk from the parking area to the first set of small drops (a short, but fairly steep scramble down will get you to some nice swimming areas) and a little further up & to the right will get you to the (bare, guard-rail-less) rock outcropping that overlooks the main, ~30-ft drop (see pix). There is no fence, line, guard or other barrier, here, so watch your step, your young kids, and your pets. It's a high-volume falls and is impressive and relaxing to watch. Lots of photo ops here & further up- and down-stream.

There is, unfortunately, some litter (empty beer/soda cans, abandoned clothing) but it's not as bad as some other otherwise beautiful & natural spots. Please pick up after yourself and, as we do, consider taking at least one piece of trash out with you if you see any.

Beware— Directions Incorrect
2019年6月 • 夫妻情侣
We never found them. The address listed on TripAdvisor doesn’t take you to the falls... The pics others posted are beautiful but this is not where the marked directions will take you with your map app!

Awesome Falls

Stopped by here after 2 days of rain and the falls were just amazing. It is a very short and easy walk from the parking area, maybe 50 feet or so. You can walk right to the edge on a very large rock looking over at the falls from about 20 feet above.

Pleasant visit!

We visited Big Falls in N.Troy today. It was fairly easy to find, there is limited parking, maybe 4-5 cars.
The grounds were nice and clean. You definitely want to have good foot wear on when walking around, especially near the edges or the precipice.
It is a nice place to get photos or have a picnic.
If you are in the area it is a really nice place to visit, don't expect it to be Niagara Falls. It is a lot quieter and more peaceful!

Big Falls, Quiet Location

A 40 foot natural waterfall in the state of Vermont. It's a well kept secret and when I heard about it I had to investigate. Beautiful!

Très beau
Chutes difficiles à trouver. Toutefois elles sont magnifiques. L'accès est difficile et c'est dangereux. Il n'y a aucune barrière. Ne pas aller avec des enfants car trop dangereux

Not so big
2016年7月 • 夫妻情侣
My husband & I, both in our 50's, were searching for a water fall in Vermont. We decided to check out "BIG" Falls in North Troy. Being within a state park we figured there would be road marks/signs to follow. There are none. Be sure to put the address into your GPS. We were told by a local in Newport that there was a large parking space and lots of trails to walk through to the falls. When we arrived it was not what we were expecting. The large parking space was a small area on the side of the road that accommodated about 4 cars; otherwise you can park on the side of the dirt road. The falls are a short walk from the parking area. There were trails which we did not explore. We did see four young people who had apparently been swimming so there must be trails that lead down to the river. I would stick to New Hampshire for water falls.

Hard to find
2016年2月 • 夫妻情侣
Great falls in hard to find spot. We were here 5 years ago as well, printed directions were inaccurate. This time followed vocal instructions google maps- instructions correct even as we traveled 6-7 miles dirt (fully graded) unsigned dirt roads. Great view, could not walk to all areas due to snow and ice- well worth it.

Cool place. Bring bug spray. Always surprised to see what out of state plates are there. Cool spot in the summer, beautiful to see in the fall and winter. Not for the wee ones. Can be dangerous. Be safe!

Wayside stop more than Attraction
We drove from Jay on a sunny day to Lake Memphremagog and the town of Newbury. Big Falls was on the way, so we made a slight detour. It's an undeveloped piece of state land bordering the Missisquoi river, where the channel is made narrow by towering granite cliffs. The power lines are nearby and can help you find the small pullout-if you are coming from Jay Peak, you also cross a covered bridge, which is another photo op.
You can walk to the Falls in less than a minute and contemplate the forces of nature. Not much else to do, tho, and more suited to a scramble than a real walk.
