The setting is spectacular, they have an interesting variety of apples, the staff is friendly, and the prices are reasonable. It helped that we brought a stepladder.

The landscape is nice to drive up to the farm but when you see the price for the small (and only) bag of apples you think they lost it. There were no apples to taste to decide which to pick, they have no shop to purchase other items and no cafe or such to take a rest. And those rules and regulations on the bag are putting me off to ever go again or suggest for others to go. My personal opinion is when you go picking fruit and veggies you can taste some, enjoy the outdoor, treat other peoples property with respect and purchase your picked items at a price that is less than in the supermarket!!!.

I took my family here for an afternoon of picking peaches. We strolled through the orchard, picked both yellow and white fruit, as well as tomatoes and flowers. There was a nice ice cream stand with delicious fruity ice cream (I don't even like fruity ice cream), and we had an overall nice time.

We took our day off for a family trip and to visit this farm to "pick your own" experience... we checked out the schedule the day before to be sure that it was open... the website said on Saturday that in July 29th it will be open from 9am to 3pm... We arrived at 1:30pm and the Farm was CLOSED.!! We drove for an hour and half from Spotsylvania to the Planes and this place just CHANGE the closed hour the same day.!!! When we were in front of the gate a very grumpy old man treated us very bad... so unrespectful and even when I told him that we drove from Spotsylvania... He just said "well, to bad"... This is the second time that I tried to go to this place and my last... I will never go back there again... They just closed when they want and they don't care about the people who is trying to buy they produce.

Tucked in the rolling green hills not very far from Dulles International, Hollin Farms offer apple picking and vegetables which many families with kids yearn for. We visited the farm in a very warm Sunday autumn afternoon and found it to be packed. Waited few minutes to get a spot, and one has to drive on bumpy gravel road on the approach to the farm. My daughter was concerned about her tires. Anyway, once we got a bag from them to keep the apples, we had to go uphill for some distance to the orchard. Some areas are cordoned off for next week's picking. The good apples were mostly picked, but we did pick some. They also sell hot dogs and apple cider, and few heaps of hay make up for benches to eat lunch. Although my wife and daughter had a vision of more lush and tidy orchard, Hollin provided a good afternoon's visit.

I went last Saturday and it was crowded, but not packed. Some varieties of apples were pretty picked over, but others like Fuji, Royal Empire and Golden Delicious were plentiful. A lot of trees looked ready for picking in the sections still roped off so I'm guessing this weekend will bring even more varieties.
In addition to the apples we picked two butternut squash and dug for peanuts! The peanuts were a nice surprise and fun to dig for.
This was a nice farm and one I've already recommended to friends who are in the midst of planning apple picking excursions.

Pick your own Seasonal fruits and vegetables. A very helpful and knowledgeable staff. Wonderful surroundings at the foothills of the blue ridge Mountains. Spread a blanket and enjoy your treasures perhaps with a bottle of wine from one of the nearby wineries.

I have been receiving emails from Hollin Farms for years and decided to visit on Sunday because they were advertising Honey Crisp apples and other pick your own vegetables. The setting is lovely, on a steep hillside, employees were pleasant, but we were disappointed with the fruits and vegetables. None of the fruit or vegetables seemed to be in peak condition. We were told by employees that coming on Sunday usually meant everything was mostly gone. It was suggested we might find Honey Crisp apples on the ground under the trees as the trees had mostly unripe fruit. There was no corn, zucchini, few tomatoes, beans, cucumbers and okra. Prices were NOT lower than our local Farmers' Market. Next time I will shop at the Farmers' Market and avoid the long trip.

My friend and I visit Hollins Farm every year to pick peaches and while there, often end up picking some other fruits and veggies as well. The owners of the farm are incredibly friendly and the harvest always plentiful on the days I've visited. It's a great place to bring your kids as well.
