We saw this place on a TicTok video & took a chance on it. Best decision ever!! The hike is moderate only since you cross the creek several times & you do have to cross a few downed trees. We took a 13 & 9 yr old as well as our dog. They all loved it & had no trouble. The water is really cold but you must get in! So much fun. The kids slid down a small waterfall as well. We will absolutely be back!!

Great little 5mi hike especially for those who like playing in creeks. Thank you trail workers in advance for safe route improvements. I will be recommending this one to friends for a long time.

My friends and I went here for a photo trip and had a fabulous time.
HOWEVER, there are a few things I would advise:
Make sure you are a moderate to difficult hiker before attempting the trail. If you take the short way up to the tub, you will cross a creek 13 times. I would advise wearing wet/dry shoes-- NOT sneakers.
Do not bring more than you can carry, but DO bring plenty of water and snacks. There are NO bathrooms on the premises.
Once you are at the bathtub, be wary of the moss while getting around. It is very slippery. The water is COLD, but bearable- especially in the heat of summer.
Temperatures in July were in the late 70s and super pleasant.

Excellent hiking experience with breath taking views! It took us approximately 4 hours but that was including swimming in the devils swimming hole and eating a picnic lunch. We suggest parking in the lower parking lot and walking approximately 1/2 mile to the trail head. Make sure to wear good hiking sandals/ boots or shoes with grip on the bottom. There are several creek crossings but the water was really low in the creek beds so it was not difficult to cross. We even had a little furry trail guide named Bandit who tagged along and guided us along the trail. More than exceeded our expectations!

The most breathtaking swimming hole . Cool fresh mountain water , looks blue green just like pictures ! Rock slide and rope swinging are a must ! Wish that the trail markers had mileage on them as to be able to see how far we were etc . It’s worth the 5.5 hour drive and long hike for me ! So amazing ! Be careful with little kids it’s hard.

This place is absolutely breath taking!! The water is crystal clear ! This is an adventurous hike and is fun crossing many streams but be cautious- there are snakes! I ran into a Timberline rattle snake on the trail and he rattled at me, lol. We had to wait for him to cross the trail while I warned other hikers. There is a swim hole with a rope swing that is fun to swim and jump in; however, you did not reach devil’s bathtub yet (it is behind this swimming hole a short hike back -climb to the left behind the rope swing to access. The water is invigorating to swim in- very cold but good for circulation on a warm day! The place can get super crowded and the parking can fill up fast, so go early! Also, the drive was kind of crazy because you will need a four wheel drive getting to the parking lot. There is a huge pot hole that regular cars will not make. Many people parked on the side of the road before the pot hole which is not recommended (tight fit) with cars coming up/down the mountain.

Devil's Bathtub is a waterfall and pothole in the creek bed that makes an excellent swimhole. Be warned, the water is very cold. It's a 3-4 mile round trip hike with dozens of creek crossings so plan to get your feet wet. The hike is beautiful and worth taking your time. We wore water shoes so the crossing were no big deal. My only complaint was that it was super crowded. Scott County built a second parking area to accommodate demand and that was almost full too. There was almost no one at Little Stony so we were surprised it was so crowded here. Would definitely recommend visiting during the week and arriving early to avoid the crowds.

Please, more than anything, allow yourself an appropriate amount of time to enjoy the beauty of this area and the wonderful hike. I chose this location as a surprise for my date to celebrate her birthday and we couldn't have been happier with our trip. Being in December it was almost a necessity to have perfect weather and we did. The trail is moderately difficult but the 10 crossings of the brook definitely challenge a novice hiker. We had 50 degrees and the sunshine highlighted the scenery beautifully. The serenity cant even begin to be described; maybe its the area, maybe its the time of year, but we didn't hear a bird or see so much as a squirrel until the last 30 minutes of the trip. The good part of going in December was not having to worry about snakes (see other reviews) however the one person we saw during our 5 hours of hiking says the water is cold even in summer so enjoying a dip in December was out of the question.
Highly recommend bringing a walking stick to help balance crossing the water and MUST HAVE waterproof boots that go over your ankles, I recommend a minimum of 6" waterproof hikers but 8" or more if you go when there has been rain.

Very beautiful hike to the Devils Bathtub. You will cross 10 + water crossing on the trail so be prepared to get wet. The hike is approximately 4 miles in and out so again be prepared with snacks and water. Take your time and enjoy it. The trail is just as beautiful as the bathtub.

This was our first visit to this trail/hike, this was an amazing hike, it's a little tough hike as you have to cross the creek many many times so wear good wet shoes, there's a lot of rock on almost all of the trail. Caution, about three of the areas of the trail is a little dangerous so be careful. Withal that said this is a beautiful trail and worth the hike.

How dangerous is the trail ? I hike some but not an regular basis and not skilled at rock climbing if any ? Is it very slippery?

There's a parking lot at the trail head but it's very small. I'd recommend going early so that you won't have any problems parking

WARNING: Impossible to get to Devils parking lot unless you have a 4-wheel vehicle that is elevated high enough to clear the big rocks in the road. I had a 4-wheel drive Toyota Rav 4, and I could not make it to the parking lot.

Hello, we drove to the road leading up to Devils, we saw the sign, but our car would not make it all the way, and their were signs say "no parking", so please tell me how do I get to the start of the trail? Thanks

You can park along the left side (river side) on the main road before you get to the forest road that takes you to the trail head. The forest road is rutted out pretty bad in a few spots due to all the traffic there.
