I've turned to the Bus company many times for community trips. They are always friendly, timely and have very reliable drivers.

Took one day trip to Washington DC . Our guide and bus driver was very knowleable on the trip . We learned a great deal of things that I never knew. I would highly suggest anyone that wants a one day trip book with Tidewater Touring.

Tidewater Touring was great! We took a trip to DC. The bus was clean and the driver was great! Definitely recommend!!

If there was any way to give this company a lesser rating than “one,” I would do it. I cannot believe that a bus company would jeopardize the lives of 41 passengers and the driver, to allow this bus on the road. There is just no way, they could have not known the condition that bus was in, if it was the least bit inspected before it was put on a road trip (even for this one day bus trip). Everyone on our bus could have been killed, more than once while on our trip. We broke down twice before we ever reached home. Traveling up/down a hilly road, it wouldn’t get above a slow crawl, yet the bus driver drove it onto the interstate, with zooming cars passing us and blowing their horns, until the bus finally quit running and he had to pull it over to the side of the road on the interstate! Phone calls were made and whatever he did, finally got the bus back on the road until we were within 10-15 miles from home, when it broke down again! Before this, a relief bus had met us about 30-40 miles outside of town, but we were not put on this bus, until it broke down again. By this time, it was approx 10:30 pm. Is that good judgement or just trying to limp a broken down bus back to home base, at the risk of lives? Early that morning, the driver got on the bus and he told us that he didn’t know (?) if it was equipped with phone chargers and didn’t bother to look either. He gave out a false wifi password that no one could excess (because it didn’t have wifi!). The microphone did not work for our hostess to communicate with the passengers. So, she went up and down the aisle, repeating, doing the best she could. There was “one” tv screen and it had a volume that wouldn’t reach past the front two seats. On the return trip, the DVD player wouldn’t work at all. The bus did not have a trash can, so we used a bag that other things were brought in. Many foot rests were broken, as were seat handle caps (missing). Some seats reclined and wouldn’t move forward. Those in the back complained that the restroom urine smelled really bad and the fact that only heat blew continuously out, did not help this situation. The driver stated that the heat was turned off, yet you could feel the hot air from the vent and people were fanning. He promised a/c on the return trip, which never happened. There were horrible deafening rattling sounds the whole way there and back from things that were loose on the bus, banging (like the rolled up sun visor), which sounded like marbles rolling around in a tin can. The whole trip going there, there was a beeping sound (hazardous signals?). Very stressful ride.

If you are interested in a day trip to Washington D.C. with no muss, no fuss, then Tidewater Touring is your ticket to a fun-filled, all-inclusive excursion to our Nation's Capital. Trip includes transportation (which can be exasperating due to traffic volume during travel to/from D.C., perplexing myriad of one-way streets in D.C. and astronomical parking fees). We avoided the hassled drive and enjoyed a stress-free, relaxing ride on a comfortable, fully-equipped coach with cool AC and a most professional driver. Ray could turn the bus on a dime, which made for a very smooth ride. He was also a most gracious host, providing us with 2 entertaining DVDs (inside looks of the White House and Air Force One) during our travel. Ray made stops for breakfast and dinner and kept up plied with ice cold bottled water as we returned to the bus between visit sites.
The driver's pleasant, cordial and well-mannered persona trickled down to all 27 passengers on our trip (July 28, 2015) making the ride most enjoyable and was further amplified by our tour guide, Nick Addams. Nick wasn't the boring type that fills your head only with the Whats and Whens, but he delved into the Hows and Whys, bringing the human aspects (the interesting parts) of our historical capital alive. Nick's the greatest!!! Site visits included Arlington National Cemetery (burial ground of many noteworthy Americans), the Monuments and Picture-taking Opportunities in front of our beloved White House.
To sum it up....Great Coach + Great Driver + Great Tour Guide = A Most Wonderful, Memorable Time had by all....Thanks to Tidewater Touring :)

Last week of May we took the day tour to Washington DC. As of " noon " that day the AC broke on the bus. 92 degrees outside and over 100 on the bus. Driver kept trying to tell us it was only 78 degrees! We were on that tour until 11:30 that night! Most of us were seniors. After complaining the Co. sent a note of apology that the bus had an AC problem during the " return " trip and gave a refund of $20 apiece. We could have hit the saunas at the resort for free! Over 10 hours of pure hell. The bus had a sticker that it was out of commission the next day by the state of Va. The kicker was the urine smell coming from the bathroom, made the air quality in the bus non-existent. Buses are old and not worth the risk.

My wife and I learned about the one day tour from Williamsburg to the highlights of Washington D.C. from our concierge and signed up for one of the weekly Tuesday trips. We left at 6 a.m., had a full day including breakfast and dinner with a full tour of the major sites of Washington. Our coach operator, Gary and our tour guide, Kyrk were friendly, knowledgable and did an incredible job getting us around Washington on a day with very heavy traffic, closed roads and extremely heavy security. If you are in the Williamsburg area and considering a day trip, check out this local company with only 5 busses and very personal service!
