This is my second time here. They change out the exhibits so there’s always something new. It’s a great experience for those who enjoy the fiber arts. We’ll worth the $8!

The Virginia Quilt Museum is amazing. The house that features all this beautiful quilts is worth viewing on its own. I was overwhelmed by the quality of the quilts. I was there to pick up quilts made by Pat Sloan that I won in a bidding contest. All monies went to preserve and support this great Museum. The people that work there were very helpful in assisting me. Please visit. You won't be disappointed.

My wife and I visited the museum and both enjoyed the experience. We also both agreed that $8/person was a little much for the self-guided tour. Happy to support the quilting industry, though.

Great little museum! The historical quilts are very cool but my interest was more in the contemporary art quilts which blew me away. The collection of antique sewing machines helped put the historical quilts in context as well. Worth a visit even if you aren’t a quilter.

Lovely 1856 restored house (thankfully not demolished) now home to the Virginia Quilt Museum. Changing and on-going exhibits of antique, contemporary, modern quilts. Within easy walking distance from downtown Harrisonburg. Also, see their antique toy sewing machine collection. Photos permitted.

Parking is located in the rear of the building. Ring the doorbell to enter. General admission is $8.00. There are permanent and changing exhibits. Staff is friendly and helpful. Exit through the gift shop, and pay last. The quilts on display are quite beautiful. A variety of styles and sizes are shown. Sewing machines are featured, too.

Gem of a small museum with wonderful exhibits. One gallery focused on really old machines to quilt. Another had modern 3D quilted flowers. Another explained and showed the many kinds of quilting techniques and matched them with the words. A true place to visit again and again on the rainy or cold days when you want a break from hiking, skiing, or other outside activities. It is also conveniently across the street from the visitor center.

We had never been to a museum like this one. It's small, but packed with amazing artistry. We didn't know very much about quilting, so the explanations were most welcome. The talent displayed here is quite remarkable. It's definitely worth a visit!

Oh, quilts. That might be interesting. OMG.
We were blown away by the exhibit of Andrea Finch’s fabric art, on top of the excellent examples of the quilting art and the touching homage to first responders in the pandemic.
We were also able to look at some of their rotating permanent collection they were reboxing. The hand stitching on the 1840s quilt was particularly fine.
There is a charge for the museum that you pay on your way out the gift shop. It’s worth it.

We do not have an elevator in our building. We do have a ramp and a side door for access to the middle and bottom floor exhibits. We have a video slideshow of the top floor exhibits.
