Parking is located in the rear of the building. Ring the doorbell to enter. General admission is $8.00. There are permanent and changing exhibits. Staff is friendly and helpful. Exit through the gift shop, and pay last. The quilts on display are quite beautiful. A variety of styles and sizes are shown. Sewing machines are featured, too.

Gem of a small museum with wonderful exhibits. One gallery focused on really old machines to quilt. Another had modern 3D quilted flowers. Another explained and showed the many kinds of quilting techniques and matched them with the words. A true place to visit again and again on the rainy or cold days when you want a break from hiking, skiing, or other outside activities. It is also conveniently across the street from the visitor center.

We had never been to a museum like this one. It's small, but packed with amazing artistry. We didn't know very much about quilting, so the explanations were most welcome. The talent displayed here is quite remarkable. It's definitely worth a visit!

Oh, quilts. That might be interesting. OMG.
We were blown away by the exhibit of Andrea Finch’s fabric art, on top of the excellent examples of the quilting art and the touching homage to first responders in the pandemic.
We were also able to look at some of their rotating permanent collection they were reboxing. The hand stitching on the 1840s quilt was particularly fine.
There is a charge for the museum that you pay on your way out the gift shop. It’s worth it.

This is truly a gem of a museum. The quilts are true works of art. The current exhibit of women's suffrage quilts is inspiring.

The exhibit of quilts from the Shenandoah Valley was fascinating and interesting. A big bonus was the exhibit of quilts and other artowrk celebrating the fight for wiman's suffrage.

Display of historical quilts on 1st and second floors. Placards of each quilt explaining a little bit about the quilt, then also whatever role of "glory" the male members of the family had in the civil war for the confederacy. The quilts were beautiful and mostly from 1800's. Just don't get the devotion to the Lost Cause. Display in basement was modern quilts focused on women's emancipation- what are a jarring contrast to the aggrandizement of the confederacy on the upper 2 floors.

Clara greeted us at the door. My grandteens are sewers so we were looking at the quilts differently than most. We were looking at the composition, colors, workmanship. Also, the different versions of the same quilt squares. It was interesting thinking about the quilts’ histories that most of their permanent collection are from the mid-1800’s. We thoroughly enjoyed checking out all of the quilts & the various sewing machines & toy sewing machines.

Really delightful experience. Wish the entrance fee was a bit less but glad we went. A new found respect for quilt makers.

We stopped by here on a Saturday morning after filling up with Veggies at the Farmer's Market, which is directly behind the museum. We rang the bell and were greeted by two young, very pleasant docents. This in itself was a surprise as the stereotypical quilters are little old ladies.

In any case, we started the self-guided tour as each piece had a detailed explanation of its origin, etc. It didn't take long to figure out that we were in for a treat - as the designs were fascinating - but the thing that really jumped out at us - was the age of some of the quilts - over 150 years old.

The quilts are hung in small rooms over 3 floors. There's a nice gift shop at the end of the tour - and that's where you pay. It's $7 per for seniors.

I'm not sure what the tipping age for kids are who would enjoy it. My guess is that they'd either have to be beginning quilters or in their late teens or early 20's to enjoy the quilts. You can easily cruise through the museum in under an hour and there's parking in their lot behind the museum.
