Prachtig luxe villa, die Poppea werd genoemd. Het werd gebouwd op een hoge klif met uitzicht op de zee. Het bevat vele kamers die weelderig waren ingericht , deze dienden om uit te rusten, te eten of gewoon te genieten.
Deze villa had ook een eigen badkamercomplex dat verwarmd was. Deze bevond zich bij de keuken met uitzicht op een kleine binnenplaats. Het fijne is dat alles nog zeer goed bewaard is.
Later werd er nog een groot zwembad aan toegevoegd.
Er komen hier bijna geen bezoekers, nochtans is het een pareltje om te bekijken, misschien nog zoveel interessanter, daar je hier bijna alleen bent. Met je Campina Artecard, betaal je hier aan gereduceerd tarief 2 euro. Vervoer met de trein is ook gratis inbegrepen met je Campina Artecard.
Niet alle ruimtes konden we bezichtigen daar ze verder aan het reconstrueren waren, maar er waren er voldoende om te bekijken en te bewonderen.

Un tuffo nel passato. Questa villa merita di essere visitata almeno una volta nella vita! Gli affreschi sulle pareti sono mozzafiato, così come la struttura, le colonne, i mosaici... per chi ama la storia DEVE assolutamente visitarla.

Absolutely brilliant and largely overlooked remains of the palace of Emperor Nero's wife. We virtually had the place to ourself and so it gave a wonderful opportunity to explore and contemplate Roman life, art and architecture. My only comment would be that the surrounding area did not feel safe at all; the walk from the train station to Oplontis was fine, but we walked from Torre Annunziata to the nearby signposted museum (< 1 mile) and felt VERY uncomfortable. Locals stopped talking and stared at us, whispering all the while. We found out later that the wide dneighbourhood is quite rough and has Camora ties, so I personally wouldn't venture beyond the palace again. Furthermore, the museum was closed when we arrived with no indication of opening times - I suspect it may have been closed for a while due to low footfall!

Abbiamo visitato un sito bellissimo che è meno conosciuto , ma che merita come gli scavi di Pompei. Con professionalità Lucia, la nostra guida, ci ha coinvolto nella scoperta di questa villa dove si possono ammirare affreschi pieni di colore .
Esperienza consigliata anche per la tranquillità del luogo .

La villa di Poppea unica, se non si ha tempo per visitare gli scavi di Pompei (cosa che richiede minimo mezza giornata) qui si riesce a respirare davvero l'aria degli antichi romani.

Il sito non ha nulla da invidiare ai vicini svavi di Pompei.
Quando ci sei dentro vieni attratto da colori ed affreschi crescono una vera e proprio meraviglia.

Abbiamo visitato il sito con il nostro accompagnatore, la guida del museo, che con estrema professionalità e entusiasmo ci ha fatto conoscere e apprezzare questa meravigliosa Villa, la sua architettura, i suoi affreschi. È un sito protetto dall’Unesco che per incomprensibili motivi non viene pubblicizzato. Qualcuno deve rimediare al più presto. Noi nel frattempo l’abbiamo potuto visitare senza folla e con una guida d’eccezione. È stato meraviglioso!

Sito archeologico poco pubblicizzato rispetto a Pompei ed Ercolano, ma merita attenzione perché la villa è conservata molto bene e gli affreschi alle pareti sono uno spettacolo

Indimenticabile esperienza. E' sicuramente il posto dove meglio si sono conservati le pareti affrescati. Nel mese di agosto non abbiamo incontrato fila e questo ci ha consentito di godere appieno della visita

Un sito archeologico molto suggestivo.
Una villa fantastica che abbiamo rivisto volentieri per restarne ancora una volta affascinati.
Nulla da invidiare al più blasonato sito archeologico di Pompei.

Ja du kan stå af på stationen circumvesuviana og gå mod syd ned til vejen via sepolcri og gå mod højre så ligger det på venstre hånd. Det ligger nede i et hul og du kan ikke undgå at se det. Det er et flot sted.
