A wonderful sunrise SUP experience. We beached in some spectacular caves, inaccessible by land, and enjoyed a delicious snack of homemade smoothie and biscuits en route. If you want to beat the crowds and see the scenery in the soft glow of sunrise, I would thoroughly recommend this trip. Thank you John for such an amazing experience - I will be back!

We did the sunrise tour of Benagil Caves. As others have mentioned, the early morning start allows for a much more serene experience before the onslaught of day tourists join later in the morning.
John was a flawless and experienced guide and I cannot recommend enough. He’s able to adjust to your experience level around paddle boarding, while having a group size of 2-6 allows for a truly bespoke experience. The trip was just the right length for the average traveler, seeing several different sites along the coast but not to the point of exhaustion or fatigue of full day trips.
Great experience with John and this tour will remain at the top of my recommendations list for Portugal activities!

Frequent travelers and not so easily impressed - my husband and I booked a sunrise paddle board experience with John and his company Zen SUP last minute while we were in Algarve.
It was an early start at 630 but ended up being one of our all time favorite travel experiences ! John supplied us with wet suits/life jackets/safety tips/basic SUP techniques and off we went literally into the sunrise exploring not just Benagil Cave but so many magnificent others! We were the first in these areas so our views were spectacular and not ruined by too many tourists looking for the perfect Instagram shot.
John - thank you so much for giving us our last perfect morning filled with unforgettable memories and phenomenal photos !

As a complete beginner I felt supported and well taught in the water to get the best out of the SUP on the Ria Formosa. We were treated to a spectacular sunset and pretty much had the whole area to ourselves. A wonderful and highly recommended couple of hours, thank you Heike and John.

From the beginning of our exchange on What's App to have more information, John has been very friendly and helpful. Once the class started, clear instructions on the beach were given to gain confidence once on water. My friend and I recommend this class because John knows how to teach step by step and increase the difficulty as we progress. The spot for the picnic was precious, all by ourselves at that time! The picnic or snacks were simple but delicious and fresh. We can't wait to review the fabulous pictures John has taken! Have fun during your own experience! 😎

Op zoek naar een sportieve activiteit in de buurt van Faro, voor ons en ons dochtertje van 8 kwam ik bij Zen Sup terecht.
Het afspreken verliep heel vlot. John stelde ons voor een dag te wachten omdat de windcondities dan zouden beter zijn. Hij vond het belangrijk dat het ook voor ons dochtertje een leuke ervaring zou worden en als beginners was het water best niet te wild.
Via whatsapp kregen we de plaats van afspraak doorgestuurd waardoor we met google maps niet hoefden te zoeken.
John is een zeer gedreven, fijne instructor. Uitgebreide uitleg op het strand en nadien met ons drietjes het water op. Wat een heerlijke manier om door het Ria Formosa te varen. In het begin op de knieën op de plank maar na wat gewenning al snel rechtop. Zelfs ons dochtertje genoot van het suppen rechtop op de plank. Bij wat tegenwind nam John ze op sleeptouw. Een klein hapje en een drankje waren een aangename rustpause
John nam veel foto’s die we naderhand per mail kregen doorgestuurd. Zeer toffe souvenier.
Het suppen blijkt een aangename combinatie tussen een beetje sport en zalig genieten op het water. Een aanrader.
Wij gaan dit zeker nog doen en kijken uit naar een volgende trip met Zen Sup volgend jaar !

John created a great experience from the time of query all the way to receiving pictures of the experience. Heike was so patient with our inexperienced group, turning it an adventure that our kids will surely remember.

John at Zen SUP is totally committed to getting people, at whatever age and ability, out on the water to enjoy, not only the standup paddle boarding (Supping) experience, but also to appreciate the Algarve coastline from a unique perspective. Always ensuring people are safe and comfortable on the water, understanding not only their paddling ability, but also the tides, winds, and currents, (which is a skill in itself), getting it wrong could make for a very difficult trip. I have now paddled with Zen Sup about 6 or 7 times over the last few years, sometimes in a group, but other times, a tailor made trip just for me! Going out with John on the water is my ‘must do’ thing when I am in the Algarve, each trip has been a different experience, to a different location along the coast, and equally fantastic. The most recent trip, a couple of days ago, was just magical, a superb trip out to a sand bar just off the Ilha da Armona....spectacular!

Seems like a lifetime away since we SUP around the point of Armona Island, what a spectacular afternoon we had. As always I am very happy to be out on the water with you here in our back garden. Looking forward to the next we meet and SUP again.

Heike and John are just fantastic! Kind, friendly, good instructors, the whole lot. We took an evening tour in the Ria Formosa with our five year old. Very calm conditions even on a windy day. The whole experience was very personalised, adapting to our skill level on the go, nice and pleasant chats during the tour, some delicious water melon juice for the break.
Highest recommendation. We'd definitely do it again.
