This is more commonly just called the boardwalk. They have been adding to it and improving it over the past few years. Great credit to whoever backed this. Beautiful to walk, jog, dog walk (cycling not permitted). Views great. Lots of facilities and bars etc.

A very pretty little mountain town. Geared towards tourism but beautifully presented. A quiet police presence keeps everyone safe. Very nice square with shops and cafes, fantastic view out to the coast and a very nice vibe to the place. Also looks like it has a very nice 4 star boutique hotel, although I didn't go into it myself. Looked the sort of place you might enjoy as a couple for a quiet weekend away!
I really liked the feel of this place with it's numerous cafes and large open square with shade trees.
It also has a unique claim to fame of having a square shaped bull fighting ring. ( now out of service I believe) .
This is quite a popular day trip destination so be warned that it can get busy or go early. Coaches turn up with guides etc.
It is also a very popular ride with cyclists coming up from the coast so please give them room and consideration. It appears as if many of the better off locals live in the quiet, walled villas that dot the whole area. I thought thus a charming town and well worth a visit just for the pleasure of it and of course not forgetting the donkey taxi service!

The boardwalk is beautiful and you can walk for miles along the sea front. Lovely bars and restaurants all the way. Cant fault the boardwalk its perfect

19:07 today I have been on the coast of mijas playa marina nudista I arrived from the Málaga train station Maria Zambrano Guadalmar de Churriana Torrmolinos Benalmadena Costa Fuengirola a large highway I was scared to get inside I avoided the outside but that journey in Andalusia was complicated from what I understand You can go on the highway if there is no road next to it. I was afraid of a fine. My fear was that I saw a cyclist on the highway. I got on it without leaving it. As a matter of caution, I arrived at the nudist beach. I got naked and with delicious water, a few strokes with the stones coming out. afloat there are stones on the beach but if you are careful nothing happens magnificent day for swimming and cycling not many people can enjoy this beautiful place naked similar bike ride greetings have a good time

Very good experience for those who like to walk, the path is very comfortable and runs right next to the sea. In summer, it is advisable to do it first or last thing in the day, to avoid the hottest hours.

Imperdible paseo diario, acompañado de la brisa marina y alejado del ruido callejero, desde donde puede verse maravillosas puestas de sol, recortado entre las nubes, como lenguas de fuego

My husband and I are keen walkers and we had never previously visited this area .
We noticed that there were small signs saying Senda Litoral along the coast near to Fuengirola and they continued ( alongside the main road) to Cala Mijas, which is where we saw a notice board promoting the 7 km long beachside boardwalk .
The boardwalk is super, we visited twice and on both occasions there were ladies busily sweeping away any sand that had blown on there during the night.
As previous posters have said, there are lots of toilets and places to stop for a drink ( even in December)
It appears that the actual Senda Litoral actually goes on for many miles with the boardwalk only being a part of it. I am sure that any posters more familiar with the area will be able to elaborate on this.

Dejlig tur langs vandet håber snart stykket fra La Cala til Fuengirola på begyndes. Sp vil vi bestemt benytte os af stien dertil.

Maravillosa senda para disfrutar del litoral. Recomendable hacerlo a primera hora, antes de que empiece a hacer calor. Sólo un inconveniente; hay demasiadas bicis y son un peligro en las zonas más estrechas ñ

We are looking to do a 35-40km Walk a long the path stay overnight and walk back to the car the next day. We’re coming down from Villanueva del trabuco so heading towards the Malaga coast way. Any start end route suggestions

it starts by the Torrens in La Cala and goes to Calahonda (near Dona Lola). There is street parking in La Cala or park on the fairground. A walk to the end and back is about 8k. There are adequate bars dotted along the boardwalk - Personally, I would recommend 'The Garden Bar'.

Does anybody know when the gap in the middle around Doña Lola is to be worked on/completed?
Will be wonderful when this happens.
Also does anybody know whether it is intended to extend Cabopina walkway to Marbella?

It's about 18km from La Cala to the centre of Marbella; I know because I ended up walking it all one day in Feb this year.
The sign in La Cala says something like 6 and a bit km to Marbella, but that's actual to where the Mijas administrative district ends going along the beach and the Marbella administration district begins.
That's just before you get to Cabopino and another 12km to the centre of Marbella.
