My wife and I enjoyed our second visit to this lovely place. It is free to visit though there is a reasonable parking charge. We are fortunate to have this place in Enfield. It was good to see more areas opened after the lockdown. I enjoy reading about Augustus Bowles' ideas and ambitions for his garden. We were a bit worried about the Japanese knotweed sample getting out of control but no doubt it is being carefully managed.
There is a cafe where we had a light bite; there is outdoor seating as well.
A pity perhaps that the house, or at least a few rooms, cannot be visited, as it must once have been a fine residence.

Nice gardens, but it was damn annoying trying to leave the gardens into the Forty Hall estate to find that the gate is only unlocked on weekdays, and I had to walk 10 minutes, with stretches of near impassably muddy paths to get to the other side of it, There were staff on site at the cafe, and other gates were being unlocked, so on earth can't they do that one?

Thank you for your review. We currently have the back gate closed due to some issues with anti-social behaviour which has led to some vandalism in the gardens. We hope this will pass and we can open the gates again soon. Hope to see you again soon.

I thoroughly enjoyed my two hour visit here yesterday. Plentiful colours, aromas and textures to admire. Carpet of bluebells is blooming right now. Enjoy!

I've lived in the area for almost 20 years and lost count of the times, I have driven past Myddleton Gdns. A friend was spending the weekend and we drove past on the way back from dinner last Saturday night. She enquired what it was like, I said I'd never been. "Let's take a trip tomorrow, its free," she said ". The rest is history.
We arrived on Mothering Sunday, minutes after they opened. We oohed and ached and gasped in wonder for over an hour. It was like a mini Garden of Eden. The entire gardens are well kept and labelled with carpets of daffodils, snowdrops, crocus, [narcissi, helleboras and all manner of spring flowers. There is a fruit and vegetable garden, forced rhubarb and newly planted fruit trees. The history of the place and the man behind it is well documented. To say I was awed and embarrassed was an understatement. This masterpiece, this corner of sweet tranquility is literally a 15 minute walk from my house. They have a cute teashop and mini museum as well. I didn't know that the current President of Myddleton Gardens is a family member of Mr Bowles and none other than Andrew Parker Bowles. Small world!
My friend said she'll be back and so will I. You can enjoy the teashop and make an afternoon of it and to top it all its free. So shame on those quibbling over a mere £2.50 parking fee.

I found this garden recommended in a Guardian article listing the Ten Best Gardens for winter walks, and I was not disappointed. There was a great proliferation of snowdrops, crocuses and hellebores, and daffodils were just starting to come into flower. The conservatory and greenhouses were also a highlight. A really enchanting place, and I look forward to a re-visit later in the season.
The cafe in the visitor centre is well wort a visit.

First visit in November so, as with all gardens, we shall have to return at other seasons. Lovely history attached to Edward Augustus Bowles, who was born and eventually died in the house.
Entrance is free but you pay for the car park.
It is surprising in many ways. As well as the plants in various settings (including greenhouses, an alpine meadow, rock garden and a kitchen garden) there is the old Enfield Market Cross, now a listed monument, rescued from destruction by EA Bowles himself.

Went today on mild December morning.
This isn't too far away for us. It has all what I require for a little trip out.
It has parking...£2.50 all day, reasonable I'd say. It has a cafe, nice selection of snacks, with indoor and outdoor seating.....not open Monday and Tuesday though. For us as pensioners, a must, toilets. Then there are the beautiful gardens to walk round with lots of plaques dotted about explaining what you can see and plants marked with their botanical names.
It was beautiful today even in winter so will look glorious in the summertime.

These grounds are beautiful and well kept. I can’t believe I’ve never visited until today. Went to their Santa’s grotto and so pleased I did. The staff were so friendly and helpful. It’s really nice to have welcoming staff as this place does. They did go above and beyond. The grotto was traditional and very accommodating to us. Thank you for making our visit such a lovely experience. I will definitely come back to visit the grounds x

What is the wheelchair access like? Is is wheelchair friendly? It is a large motorized one and not standard size and prevents my friend getting into certain places

Thanks for your enquiry. There are wheelchair friendly, surfaced paths which give access to most of the gardens. The paths have easy and moderate slopes, however there are certain parts of the gardens that have narrower, unsurfaced paths with steeper slopes. These can easily be bypassed using alternative surfaced paths. The door to our Visitors Centre is 85cm (2ft 9 in wide) and the width of the ramp/slope to this door is 134cm (4ft 5 in). We hope this helps, more information and images can be found on our listing on the DisabledGo website.

Hi, Myself and 5 friends ( ladies rounders team) have a 3 bed new style executive lodge - Oak 326 - for our stay at the end of this month. We have been to Elveden before (Winter Wonderland twice- see the Center Parcs Village Life magazine letters page!) and have decided to try Woburn this year! Can you please tell me if your lodge had a sauna and a cafetierre?
Is there anything you wish you'd taken and didn't?!
Many Thanks

Hello, thanks for your enquiry however, we think you may have us confused with another destination. Myddelton House Gardens does not provide accommodation; it's best for day visits. The gardens sit within Lee Valley Regional Park which has a range of accommodation to choose from - whether you're camping, caravanning or hoping to stay in a cosy cocoon or cabin. Please visit our website for more information. Many thanks.
