this church is well worth a look around all the vaulateers are very welcoming and very well conversed about the history of this iconic church in the niddle of Rochdale

I organised a visit sometime last year (2016) for members of Woodman College. About 20 members and partners turned out one Saturday and we had a very satisfying couple of hours. We all ascended the steps to the tower roof and a guide pointed out many places on view.
We were entertained by a slide show about the church and its carvings and contents by two Freemasons from Cheshire before leaving.

What a fabulous evening we had tonight , we really didn't know what to expect , we had seen the advert in the Rochdale observer for an adaptation of Shakespeare's Twelfth Night By The Manchester Shakespeare Company was being put on at St Edmunds Church Falinge , well we nearly didn't bother as the weather was dreadful but my are we glad we did , for those who don't know the play it's a Satirical farcical comedy from the off , well this modern take does not disappoint , a very well written production , with a few musical numbers along the way , wonderful , oh and laugh we certainly did . The venue of St Edmunds was just perfect for this type of event cosy and what a beautiful building to hold such events , would love to see more events like this in this remarkable church , it's a real asset to Rochdale , the finale tonight The Wind & The Rain really was a show stopper amazing these guys and mainly girls could act and sing , with a beautiful solo about love lost , great night in a great venue from a great theatre Company , would love to see them back here .

We visited St Edmund's again Saturday 12th December for a very special carol concert by the Cantare Ladies Choir. What a beautiful setting for this performance, the acoustics were fantastic. Anyone interested in general mill town history of Masonic history in particuiar should make the effort to visit. Look at their Facebook page for special events or just visit on a Saturday when open.

What an amazing evening we had at St Edmunds on the 12th of December , the church was decorated beautifully and looked simply stunning in the candlelight, we received a very very warm welcome from entering the church , and we're so impressed by how professional and freindly everyone was we were guided straight to and offered complementary sessional refreshments and the biggest selection of Christmas fancies we had ever seen at on of these events not just your usual stale mince pie would do here , they had the lot , Bavarian black buns , stolen , mince pies , Dutch Apple cake , Pannottne , and so on , the smells and site a real treat for the senses , the church isle lit by candlelanterns guided you to your seat the trees yes trees where amazing , someone had gone to a great deal of trouble here to make this a very special evening and it really didn't disappoint , the choir Rochdale Cantare Ladies Choir , they moved you to tears with some of the songs they sang so beautifully and the thought that had gone into the readings even one in Anglo Saxon ( with translation ) never heard that before , amazing , these ladies and gentlemen really know how to put on a show and most of all make you feel welcome and leave you wanting to come back , St Edmunds really is a big asset to Rochdale and the authorities really need to see what these people are trying to do here with we understand no money , they really are an asset and work very hard we will be back again and can't wait to see what you do next Christmas , thank you all at St Edmunds and the Wonderfull Cantare Choir for Really kick starting our Chhristmas , 😊

This is a Gem of a building with unique stained glass windows illustrating Masonic History, together with furnishings and fittings.Worthy of a visit.

We visited here as part of a group tour and we where made most welcome by the wonderful volunteers what a very dedicated bunch they are so friendly . And we must give sue the lovely lady who made all our refreshments 27 of them she made us all feel like an old friend . Howard our wonderful guide and carl who took the more adventurous of our group up the tower all 99 steps what a view and well worth the climb . They even arranged a talk / presentation by the a couple of Freemasons from Stockport . On the History Of St Edmund's and Its founder Albert Hudson Royds the talk was wonderful and the knowledge of these two gentleman secound to none . We have been to many lectures in our time visiting various historic sites but this was so much different very personal and really quite human not your usual blabla very informative with just the right amount of humour with a very personnel touch . We can't promise that they have a talk every time you visit . But what you can be sure of is the very warm welcome at St Edmunds and that you will not be disappointed it really is like they say truely a heritage treasure a real gem go visit

St Edmund's Church in Falinge is a protected church building in the Falinge estate in Rochdale.
Preserved as an architectural gem, Its a gorgeous example of a master craftsman's abilities. Used as a Freemasonry temple as well as a parish church for many years before it was closed a few years ago by the diocese of Manchester, make a special trip to visit it on one of it's many open days. You won't regret it!
