Like most places on Coll and Tiree there are no signs or well work tracks to get there. I initially went towards the Ringing Stone from the wrong route over very uneven terrain and through lots of burns and boggy areas. However once I reached the machair the rest of the route was a very easy and enjoyable walk on a beautiful sunny day with just me and the birds, cows and sheep . Ringing Stone has archaeological significance but is not all that visually impressive. A lovely walk on a good day especially if you can find best way to access it

Wow..third time lucky! It's much further than I thought...my advice is - stick to the path!!! Be wary of the cattle - we went out of our way not to disturb them.

An easy walk and well worth the effort. Lovely views, lots of wildlife and we heard corncrakes too. Definitely recommend.

Absolutely fantastic walk and well worth the effort. However we came across one very dog unfriendly stile which was disappointing. My poor wee lab ripped her jumper, luckily not her skin on the way. On the way back we improvised with a piece of wood which worked. Old dogs wouldn’t manage this walk as she also had to squint under a gate at another point. Disappointing as these barriers could be easily remedied.

Be careful as the signage is not great. Fine for most of the way but on occasion it is not easy to see without careful looking!

We stayed at the RockVale Guest House near by. Ringing Stone directions were clear in the guided walk leaflet but we did have to trust our instincts a couple of times to find it. But find it we did. Situated near a beautiful scalloped beach, it resonated with all the mystery we expected. And it rang as it was meant to!
Also thought we saw otters at the nearby beach.
The walk requires very sensible footwear and is uneven in places - as you would expect. Livestock in field - again, as you would expect.

A few points, the walk is further and more demanding than the guide books suggest. It is quite uneven ground and requires a lot of clambering over rocks to avoid long detours around the bays. there are some stiles to cross and at parts the ground was quite wet.
On a bright day I imagine it is stunning, it was overcast and breezy when we went which added to the challenge.
The rock its self is somewhat underwhelming in terms of its "ring", however, my partner fell pregnant 2 months after visiting it (which was after 10 months of unsuccessfully trying). So maybe there is something in the old tale of fertility.....

Great walk over the fields of cows and sheet. Watch your feet. Ringing Stone does work. Good photo opportunity. Great all round views.
