What a lovely place! Natural bushland along the Mullum-Mullum Creek, with several walking/cycling paths. Dogs are allowed on a leash. Some of the large, older trees are labelled.
There's an information office near the western entrance.
Near the fascinating Schwerkolt Cottage (eastern entrance) there are picnic grounds, grassy spaces, barbecues, picnic tables, water refill station.
Parking available.

Discovered this place by accident and it is now a regular walking place. The paths are well maintained and although shared bike and pedestrianpaths, the bike riders are mostly riding for pleasure and not speed. Mitcham is a delightful place to walk and along the creek today I saw King Parrots, rosellas willy wagtails and wrens. Some parts of the tracks require some fitness but most are very accessible. A great place to chill out. Love it.

This reserve is in the southern side of Mullum Mullum Creek and is a nice blend of indigenous bush and reconstructed bush land which used to be an industrial site.
Bird lovers love this place with 85 species identified in the Reserve. Koalas were released in the 70’s and if you’re lucky you’ll spot one in the manna gums. Of course, the kangaroos and wallabies are always to be seen.
You can use many of the network of paths to explore and there are a number of picnic areas as well.
Visit the information centre to get more details of the environs. Open on a Sunday between 2-4pm.
Lots of parking. Toilets available. Wheelchair friendly. Kid friendly. Take your own rubbish home please.

This is about the best parklands in the Eastern Suburbs.
It stretches though suburbs and its tranquility is the greatest break one can have in this stress filled life we live in.
One of the access points is in Mitcham and there's very limited parking there however a very short walk and there's ample off street parking where you can park your car.
There are well laid out trails and all the 'trail' comforts you can expect.

Beautiful place, pleasant escape to "get away" from urban life, surrounded by native fauna. Nice views of Mullum Mullum Creek. Lots of short walks suitable for school-aged kids (waterfall walk, pond walk, wildflower walk). A good place to have a picnic with lots of picnic tables near the visitor centre. A longer walk to Schwerkolts Cottage on Deep Creek Road, which is in the midst of a beautiful setting complete with BBQs.

You would not know that a busy freeway tunnel runs though below . Native trees and fauna and flora with a stream meandering through . Busy on weekends with families enjoying bush walking . Great for cycling through as well . In spring, it's beautiful with native flowers . In summer it's cooler here by quite a few degrees and it's great just sitting down in a quiet corner to watch the stream. I am lucky I live just 5 minutes walk away.

Nice bushy park in the burbs. Very peaceful and quiet even on weekends. Great to take dogs on lead as well. Some nice hills for runners.

Yarran Dheran is a reserve situated on the southern bank of the Mullum Mullum Creek. It is a mixture of original indigenous bushland and reconstructed bushland on a previously industrial site and covers 7.2 hectares.
The Mullum Mullum Creek runs through the Reserve from its beginnings in Croydon before joining the Yarra River at Templestowe, providing an important corridor for wildlife. Over 85 species of birds have been identified in the Reserve. Koalas were released into the area in the 1970's and may still be occasionally seen in the manna gums. Kangaroos and wallabies are also seen as they move up and down the Mullum Mullum Valley.
The Reserve has a large network of paths which take the visitor through different vegetation types and several picnic areas are provided. An Information Centre is open on Sundays between 2pm and 4pm (subject to volunteer availability, except on total fire ban days). The Centre houses a wildlife collection and provides access to a range of information about the Reserve.

Worth a visit if in Mitcham once again, this beautiful park/reserve is another "get away" location for peace and quite and exploration and a picnic , walk or bike ride.
