First winery of the day. Pinot Grigio was nice. Fruity, but not tropical fruit that I tend to not like. Remaining whites were a bit sweet for me. The rose was surprisingly peachy. Cab Franc was pretty good. Family Red is a no for me. Chambourcin was OK. Lakeview Red is one of those easy drinking wine that makes you feel like you are just drinking juice. Finally the strawberry is all strawberry. Nice time on the patio with a small lake beside you, listening to live music.

Beautiful and peaceful spot along lake. Wine was tasty and reasonably priced. Was here on a Sunday afternoon just before a big thunder storm came thru. Moved from outside to inside b/c wind was howling and rain was pouring - staff hustled in the rain to get umbrellas, tables and chairs in b/f blown away. Guitar player was playing until storm hit and was good. Wife did the 9 pour tasting for $20.00 - all wines were good and the Lakeview Red was her favorite and bought a bottle for the trip to Williamsburg. Winery easy to get to from Richmond. A little different tasting experience - all tasting wines were poured at 1 time - then you tasted them at your own pace. Wasn't a spiel about each one - but owners daughter came thru the room and we were able to ask questions and learn about the operation and wines. Very nice experience and a lovely way to spend a Sunday afternoon!!

If you have any upcoming event, I highly recommend that you celebrate at Jolene Family Winery! We rented a lakeside tent for an hour & a half, at a very reasonable cost. Our server, Shannon, was incredible! She took such great care of us & made the experience even more pleasant! We got a flight of their wines; each flight will easily work for two people, & there were 9 different offerings. Out of the 9, we discovered several new favorite varieties! There was a food truck (191 Smokery, their nachos are killer!!!) at the venue & live music as well. Our tent was AWESOME! It was cozy, comfy, had a marvelous view of the lake, & super friendly ducks! We brought snacks & birthday cake, it was perfect! Those items are permissible, just don't bring any alcohol from outside, it's not allowed. We're looking forward to going back in the Fall & they even have the tents in the Winter, with heaters for cozy comfort! All in all, a great experience, one we look forward to repeating, & I highly recommend this venue! If you reserve a tent, please ask for Shannon; I promise she will take amazing care of you!

Jolene Family Winery is a hidden gem! No signage off the interstate, but very easy to locate if you are looking for wineries (we found them in advance on-line) and easy to find (located behind a small strip shopping center beside a beautiful lake). We were warmly greeted and welcomed. Our server explained the tasting process (both wine and cider available). We opted for wine. A tasting is $15. The grounds/building are beautiful and everything is immaculate. (Great, clean restrooms.) We decided to taste outside. (You get a tray with 8 samples and a tasting sheet describing the wines.) Wine is also available by the bottle or glass. Some snacks (nuts, etc) are also available. Jolene allows "outside" food, so we had packed a picnic and enjoyed that under their gazebo with our wines. My favorite was the peach wine. Felt just like I was eating liquid peaches.
You should definitely make time for a stop here if visiting wineries in the area. They are friendly, the facility is great, the setting is beautiful and you will enjoy your visit. Definitely recommend!

Love visiting wineries and today we got out to Jolene’s Family Winery. It is a beautiful setting and I loved sitting out on the patio looking through the pines to the lake. The ladies behind the counter were very nice and helped tremendously! I did get a bottle of Lakeview white and Vesara because I literally got recipe ideas while drinking them. We also got a bonus for my Cider drinking husband. They have an assortment of Coyote Hole Ciders. He liked the roasted.

Good location right off of Rt. 60; I and a friend went for a flight of wines.. My favorite was the Family White which was a blend of Chardonnay and Vidal Blanc. Some of the wines seemed to be too sweet for my palate and wanted to know about the sugar content in the wines but was not able to get an answer.
