We got out of the car and walked around a bit. We were looking for special houses (Sears Kit Homes) from the 1910s - 1930s and there was one near here.
Nice place to sit and contemplate...get away from the hustle bustle.

Maybe we didn’t see the whole thing, but basically there was someone’s house with a park in front of it. Stone fire places, but not much else. We followed my maps app the long way through neighborhoods. It is shorter to go behind the Depot and hike up. A spot lower on the trail has three signs showing which buildings are which.

The park is in the Sears Hill neighborhood just next to the old train station. There is a bridge connecting the park and Gypsy Hill to downtown historic Staunton. If you visit the weekend market and the old train station area and wood like to see the bird eye view of the city, this is the place to get to. If walking up the hill to a residential neighborhood is not your cup of tea, you can skip this attraction.

We happened upon the park by chance, as were were checking out the train station. It's a quick trip across the bridge to the park, which offers some of the greatest views of Staunton! Very easy walk and lots of fun.

Gypsy Hill is probably the most popular place, so this park is often overlooked. Lot's of sport venues, trails, including bike.
If you have young children, probably Gypsy is your best bet.

A wonderful setting to sit on a grassy knoll and enjoy "The Queen City of the Shenandoah Valley"! Enjoy Staunton's historic Architecture, walk across the Sears Hill Bridge, and you may also see the Train go by-all within 5 minutes or an Hour-as long as you would like to spend. Beautiful any time of year. The 100 year old Sears Hill Bridge (near the Sears Hill neighborhood) was completely refurbished two years ago due to the efforts of a "grass roots" organization and people of the community. You can also experience Staunton's Train Station and the Depot Grill-a fine restaurant anytime!
