Enjoy the quiet beauty.

This is such a charming walk and display area. This is a place to re charge. Bring your self plus, perhaps, paints or a camera.
This is a slightly hilly woodland garden with a variety of blooms and trees. In May, the blooms are spectacular.

A Breath of Fresh Air

Within Federal Way this garden just invites you to explore it. I can attest to it's restoring appeal by the fact it gave me new life on a day I didn't feel my best. And if you come here on a Sunday in May, like I did, you'll definitely feel the rebooting effect last through to your work week. Make sure you come during the spring though, or you'll miss the flocks of poppies, rhododendrons, and azaleas blooming! It's a photographer's paradise, a painter's sanctuary, and a family's getaway. Don't take my word for it though, it's all there to see for yourself.

Beautiful woodland garden, excellent Bonsai museaum

Quite charming, and better than I expected. Was there on a Mothers' Day expedition. I was expecting a formal garden, but this is like a woodland in a hilly area with trees, shrubs, and of course flowers - not just rhododendrons but viburnum and azaleas and lots of others. It would be lovely even when nothing is in bloom.

The bonsai museum next door is spectacular. The individual bonsai trees are beautiful, but it's also put in the context of WWII and the incarceration of US nationals of Japanese origin. Very nicely done. (It's free, but they suggest a donation of $10 per adult.)

We spent about 2.5 hours altogether. Very worthwhile.

Rhododendrons in bloom!

The gardens close at 4pm. We managed to cover the grounds in 1.5 hrs. Love the many colorful species of rhododendrons but wish there were more in different families. They have lots of parking, a satisfactory restroom, a sales section and gift shop.

Just the best garden on the I-5 corridor

An outstanding public garden that knocks us out every time we are lucky enough to visit. The best rhododendrons, magnolias, azaleas and other plants you can find in such a convenient location next to an interstate! Worthy of our support in an era when the unique and precious greenspace that was Weyerhaeuser HQ is about to get destroyed in favor of more warehouses.

Beautiful Garden, Hands Down

The garden is beautiful, hands down. It's deceptively large, given how crammed together it appears on first entrance. The entrance fee of $8 a person is maybe a tad steep for a garden, so if you're on a tight budget and this is a secondary spot on your list, it might be worth going to a different, free garden.

However, if you're interested in this garden specifically, or rhododendrons more broadly, the price tag is worth it. The parking lot is a short walk away, so be prepared for that.

My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed our visit here. The grounds were beautiful and informative with many different species besides rhododendrons. Nice to combine this with the free bonsai museum next door.

Beautiful place in the spring

Really incredible place to see the flowering rhodies in the spring time. Easy trails to wander throughout the gardens.

Stunning collection of large rhodies . .

Beautiful setting with rhododendron cultivars from all over the world, some of them 25 feet tall. Easy trails to walk through, a selection of plants for sale, plus a nice shop for tools like hori hori, and all handicap accessible. Feb. & March are probably the best time to see rhodies in bloom, but it seems that even if you visit in the fall, there is something in bloom. (We also saw a red fox out in the meadow.)
A must see if visiting the area.
