The docents act as your tour guides. Each room has a different guide. Obviously some are more entertaining than others but all the guides were informative. I toured the mansion 5 years ago. I think you’d learn something new on every tour. The dining room was especially interesting. I liked that the Christmas decorations utilized lots of evergreens and other items native to Washington.

Having read the hype very disappointed. Several rooms with Christmas decorations and not much else. The staircase was nicely decorated. Did visit across the way the museum having a limited show of History of North Carolina. That was interesting. For a more eventful pleasant holiday event, Old Salem in Winston Salem has a beautiful candle light tea and the village is beautifully decorated. That truly was worth the time to take in, learn, and enjoy.

The tour is free. Just sign up for it in the basement of the State Capitol next to the gift shop. The tour guides are very knowledgeable. They love telling you about the history of the mansion and showing off this beautiful house.

We took the tour with a group of 3 adults and 3 pre teen/teens. We really enjoyed seeing the mansion but you only get to see a small part of it. The tour guides are volunteers and quite a bit older. The one that we had stopped the tour and called out our teenagers for giggling. She told them to "quit horsing around." Be prepared for a serious tour without any sense of laughter. You do get to see some of the current governor's personal art work and photos which makes it feel more real.

I was able to visit the Governor's Mansion tour at Christmas time. This was a very special time of the year and the mansion was decorated beautifully. The docent who gave the tour was knowledgeable, friendly, and told great stories about the mansion and the governors who had lived there. The tour was only given once a week and I had to have reservations. Space was limited on the tour, as there are only a few people at a time, but it was an excellent tour. There was plenty of time for questions. The tour was given on the main floor of the mansion and did not include the private quarters. The gift shop had a wide selection of items that could be purchased. There were cards, books, and quite a few items that could be purchased at a reasonable price. There was no pressure to buy anything. This was an excellent tour and I would highly recommend it. It was extra special at Christmas.

My husband along with other distingushed Washington teachers were honored at a reception at the Governors mansion. It was held indoors in early summer. The Governor and his wife greeted each recipient. The grounds are lovely

On January 29, 2015 a private tour of the Washington State Governor's Mansion and tea with the First Lady was arranged for a large group of 90 year olds. How gracious, regal and committed to this State's citizenry we found Trudi Inslee to be. It reignited the confidence of the group in those who lead this State. Bravo to the Foundation that maintains the Mansion and to those who provide tours. The tour is

How many governors allow their home, while they are living there, but open to tourists? I doubt there are many. But here in Washington the Governor's Mansion is open and there is no cost for the tour. Based on a number of the items on display, this is really someone's home and is lived in. So it was interesting to see the type of home the state of Washington provides to its governor. My wife and I were really glad we took this tour.
