This is a wonderful marine science center located in two separate buildings at Fort Worden, WA. When we visited they fed the octopus and other sea life which was fascinating to watch. The octopus is a male and it will soon be released to the sea. The center is wonderful for families and the staff is very eager to explain things to visitors.

Great learning experience. One half hour on the dock and one half hour on shore. Tour begins on the dock. Great staff!

There was so much to see and do here during the festival but we havel also been here when it is not going on and the place still has alot going. Great staff willing to help you out in all thing wooden boat.

FORT Townsend WASHINGTON is the oldest city in WASHINGTON and is VERY proud CITY. I live in Anacortes WASHINGTON but I like to SPEND time in port Townsend, if go to port Townsend do not STAY in THE tides inn,it's VERY bad, a VERY good place to STAY is MANRESA Castle 1892 in port Townsend in joy YOUR STAY.

Two buildings, both small but informative. The actual highlight was watching them crab out back. Aquarium is hands on while the other side was more educational. $5 for adults and $3 for kid.

This is a very small Science center. Perfect for a very short vacation or a vacation with a lot to do. It cost only $5 to get in and it was well spent. The center is in two parts, so make sure after going into one side to cross the road.

The Port Townsend Marine Science Center is a good place to spend a few minutes with the wee ones. They can touch a starfish if they want.

OMG: Kids loved it. My kids love the ocean and this place was the best. These touch tanks rival any major aquarium in the country, and we could have stayed there all day.

We went to Fort Worden to camp and the Marine Science Center plus the aquarium (which I thought had their own listing, but I can't find it) was awesome. You do have to pay to get into them, but it's one price for both the science center and the aquarium.
1) Science Center - normally small 'marine' museums aren't very interactive or good, but this one was by far the best I've been in. You have the option of trying to figure out what killed the killer whale Hope, you can touch marine pelts (otter as an example), you can view various marine objects under microscopes (you pick and do it yourself), and they have a sand lab where you can look at the textures and colors of all the sands all over the world. Sand lab was my personal favorite.
2) Aquarium - ok...this aquarium blew me away. My teenage daughter even asked why our large city aquarium wasn't as cool as this one. It's small but so interactive. You can 'two finger' touch everything except the fish. I have to admit I've never seen a live barnacle but have now. At certain times you can feed the marine life (not posted). We watched an anemone eat a shrimp which was quite cool. Very impressed and would go back
