Very nicely done Christmas Lights. Staff at the gate are so friendly and helpful with tips. Loved the large WV state display Being from NC and learning these lights were a free drive through was surprising. Impressed with this fact and happily gave a donation. Locally where we live there is charges to see such lights from $10 and up per person or $20 and up per car. Thankful individuals, business. and local government of WV realize the value in providing everyone the opportunity to see lights at Christmas. The downtown area with music tree is a must see too!

Well marked trails. I parked by the tennis courts and ball field. However if you go further in there is a really nice playground and signs for more trails. The trail I was on had many elevations and was about 2 miles long beautiful area.

This park has everything! The first thing you notice when you come in the park is the minor league baseball stadium. Next you will see the miniture train & station which takes visitors around the park for small fee. As you continue around the park you will be blown away by the huge wooden playground that any kid will love! My favorite feature is the miles of hiking and biking trails which are groomed and continue to expand each year. There is a "family friendly" trail that is mostly flat and circles the park for 1.3 miles but most of the other trails have some hills and turns. For bikers many of the trails are considered medium to advanced but most hikers will enjoy the twists, turns and beautiful views.
When you are done hiking and biking or if those activities are not your thing there are basketball hoops, baseball fields, sand volleyball and tennis courts near by. The park also features several shelters varying in size for small or large gatherings and stationary grills. All the shelters can be reserved and the larger ones are especially busy so plan ahead. Several people bring their dogs and at the trail head there is are doggy do bags and trashcans along the family friendly trail. The trail head does have a small building that sells shirts and has a self serve bike repair station in front.
The only negative is not sufficient drinking water fountains in the park so bring your own. DO NOT use the pump that is near the train station, that is NOT drinking water!

Huge playground for the kids and train that traverses the park. Sand Volleyball, amateur baseball field, many picnic areas. My favorite are the miles of hiking, biking and running trails. Most of the trails are tree covered and range from flat and easy to hilly and challenging.

The park is beautiful! Very modern and clean. Great place to watch a baseball game. Very good food for low prices! Excellent atmosphere. Fantastic for a night out!

Great place to take the family for a picnic, playground for kids, shelter rentals, get your "steps" in for the day, ride the Ridge Runner train around the park, hit the trails, and in the winter visit the Holiday of Lights display.

This place is a great from toddlers to older people as it has different sections for younger and older kids would recommend to anyone!

Our hotel referred us to this city-owned park for our morning walk. The trails are well marked and range from easy to medium challenge. Woodland scenery makes you forget the medical complex which adjoins and provides plenty of solitude. There are picnic tables, toilets, parking, playground and a pool.

This is a favorite place to walk, equipped with a large playground for children. There is plenty of room for picnics and even train rides for all in the summer. In the late November/ December holiday season this park becomes a superb display of festive lights and winter wonderland scenes. Be sure to enjoy this mountain treasure of a park!
