Very scenic trail and easy hike. A short 3 miles or so.
Hiked the trail with my kids 7 years ago.
Fond memories.

This is a nice hike with several lookout spots. If you do the whole trail and don't want to backtrack, you can walk back to the parking lot along the road, which makes it a 2.9 mile loop. Don't miss the other hiking spot further down this road--The Hot House Trail which is a steep decline to an old abandoned mine area, the walk back up the hill is rough, be sure you are healthy enough to handle it.

We loved this trial the most it was mostly shaded and simple hiking, the view was great & I wasn’t too scared for my young son being near the edge.

When visiting the New River Gorge National Park, this trail is a must. Admission to this trail and the entire Park is free. The trailhead is a ten minute drive from the Canyon Rim Visitors Center. Stop off there and pick up a hiking trail map. Use the restrooms there because at the trailhead there are only vault toilets. Parking is somewhat limited at both lots for this trail. It is a nice walk from the parking lot to the overlook areas . Many creek crossings and lots of rhododendrons. There are many overlook areas but the main one is the Diamond overlook. Care must be exercised there. Steep drop offs but great scenery of the Endless Wall. The trail is moderate in difficulty and not dangerous except for the overlooks and the spur to the climbing area. Round trip takes about two hours including breaks to admire scenery and take photos. Foot traffic is high but acceptable during late afternoons and most weekdays. USA Today rated this trail as in the Top 10 trails in America.

It was rather late in the day to begin a hike. But, my wife noticed that tomorrow would be rainy and right now it was quite nice, no rain and not too warm. We had the time so decided to take a hike (to ‘earn’ our Park Stamp). The Ranger recommended the Endless Wall Trail loop. This trail has two trailheads. We began at the Fern Creek Trailhead. The hike is rather easy (if you don’t mind all the roots embedded in the trail). Not terribly crowded. It’s about 2+ miles roundtrip. The midway point is an overlook of the gorge – Diamond Point. It’s on a lookout on big rocks that open to the Gorge and river. An enjoyable hike.

Absolutely must do hike!!! Trail is easy-to moderate. Many areas to stop and enjoy the views of the gorge! Could easily enjoy a picnic at many of the views. Easily could take a few hours to complete as the views are beautiful...don't rush!! Wear hiking foot wear, hiking poles make the walk easier. We enjoyed this hike over Long point.

Absolutely stunning. We parked at the second lot and went to Diamond Overlook then walked back. The view was fantastic and it wasn’t too busy.

Moderately easy trail with amazing views of the gorge and cliffs. We stopped at several of the overlooks at the top and then turned around and came back. We didn’t want to do the full trail and then walk the half mile along the road. Our knees aren’t that great but the few rocky parts were not bad at all!

Great trail with lots of smaller trails leading to fantastic overlooks!! Loved seeing the climbers and rafters down on the river! Will definitely come back!

You’d think the hike would be rough in order see such a lookout view but it was such a easy going hike! The incline isn’t bad at all and the rhododendron was blooming when we were there. So lots of stopping and admiring along the way!

Do you walk along the cliff edge on the path? - I have a fear of heights unless holding on to something. Shpuld I do teh hike

The main trail does not go right along the cliff edge. There are paths that branch off the main trail that you can go on to look at the cliff edited.

If you are coming from the visitor center, there are 2 ways to get to the endless wall trailhead. Get on to the highway 19 and then 82, you will have no problem. The other way is via Lansing Loop onto 82. That is pretty much one lane road with 2 way traffic.

How strenuous is the ladder system? Is it hard to follow if you take one set down and the other back up? Will you miss diamond point if you do this?

I hike so many trails. I did climd down the ladder and i also saw diamond point. I May have gone two separate directions. Either way it was not a long hike. Views are breathtaking! This was one of my favorite road trips!

Yes u can. Much of the upper trail is safe. You can choose to venture over to the scenic cliff side views which I would be cautious of in the snow/ice

I'm not sure but if you use google maps and just type in endless wall trail Fayetteville wv it comes up on mine! If you're going north on 19 it would be a right hand turn onto Lansing Edmond road (left hand turn if coming south) and they have signs on your right for the trail head out that road.

My husband and I will be traveling with two small dogs on leashes. Is this trail pet friendly?

Yes it is pet friendly. We saw many on leashes the day we hiked. It is a little over 2 mile hike with a few rocks and roots to navigate so make sure they are fit to do it. And maybe bring a bowl for water when you finish.

It most definitely is a part of the National Park Service, but there are no fees to hike any of the trails there.
