This is a beautiful, relatively easy trail to hike. Park in the “fern creek” parking area, as the trail begins there. There’s one clean outhouse available just at the trail start, no other facilities or water available on the trail. The signage to get to this trail is lacking, just know you must go to fern creek to get to the trail head. We drove up and down the main road a few times looking for a sign, and just happened to try here before giving up, glad we did.

Incredible views. Labeled as moderate and at times it may be moderate. It is overall not too troubling of a walk. We did see some with little kids so okay on it. It was fun to peak out and see where you were and see the beautiful views.

A very enjoyable hike with views into the canyon. The lookout point is a great stop mid-way to take some pics, rest, and have a snack. We did the version as a loop and just walked the last bit along the road between two parking lots, but that was fine.

The "Endless Wall" was indeed endless for us. We thought it was 1.2 miles long but maybe we misread the map. We walked along it for two hours over rugged terrain - and my beloved had to get the car and pick me up - that's how exhausted we were! We are in our early 60's and although we hike a lot when we travel, we aren't experts. I was surprised by the reviews that said this was a fairly easy trail, because for us it was not. Despite that, great views here and there but it's definitely rugged.

It’s an exciting moderate difficulty trail that is 2.3ish mile long from trail head to trail head abundant with views from cliff ledges of flat rocks. You may luck out with a mountain climber whose feet are hanging from the cliff ledge while guiding his partner who’s negotiating the climb to him. Majority of the hikers are friendly😊! It was an excellent hiking experience even if we parked on the more elevated trailhead.

I REALLY enjoyed this hike. We came on Tuesday, October 12 in the morning - around 10 am. We went to Diamond Point and turned around. This is around 2 miles (roundtrip) with 288 feet elevation gain. It is a pretty flat hike. Once we got to Diamond Point (less than 30 minutes from the trailhead), we were able to enjoy the views of the New River Gorge Bridge in the distance and the river below.
If you are looking for an easy hike with awesome views in New River Gorge, this one is hard to beat.

Great hike! Several dogs on the trail. Breath taking views. Be careful around the edges. Several people repelling down the mountain and they come back up. You may be sitting there and someone pop up next to you. 😊

This was my favorite hike at the gorge. Simply beautiful with numerous outcrops to view the gorge along the way. It is a loop trail and is an easy walk. Don't miss it!

You know when people ask what is a must do or what "not to miss" in a National Park? Well, for New River Gorge National Park, Endless Wall Trail should be at the top of that list This incredible hike is mostly easy, with a few short, moderate rocky sections that are slippery when wet. This trail is not for the faint of heart, though, as there are sheer dropoffs at all the viewpoints (and no fences or barriers). The viewpoints are all accessible via short paths to the side of the trail, though, so it's not like you're walking along the edge during the main trail.
There are several unnamed viewpoints that will take your breath away before you even get to the crown jewel known as Diamond Point. Once you reach the sign for diamond point and walk to the cliffs, the view there blows away even those you saw before. It's stunning.
Arrive early (recommend no later than 8:30, 8am if it's peak tourist season) or you won't have anywhere to park. We parked at the Fern Creek parking lot, but there is a second parking lot at the other end of the trail (maybe half a mile down the road). Bonus - if you arrive early, you will have the trail mostly to yourself (and all the other people who read this and followed my advice lol)
The trail is actually one way, starting at the Fern Creek parking lot, ending at Nuttal (or vice versa), but we chose to turn around at Diamond Point and head back to Fern Creek. Our total hike out to Diamond Point and back was 2 miles.
The trail is not wheelchair accessible, and you should be in reasonably good health, particularly if it is hot outside. Bring lots of water no matter the weather. I personally would not bring small children to this trail, or even older children unless they are extremely respectful of the dangers of sheer dropoffs.

A moderate to easy trail with a bit of climb, but not a lot. Start in a pretty forest, and then progress to a neat rhododendron forest. Finally you are at a series of AWESOME clear views of the gorge and surrounding mountains. and then back downhill. This is a fun hike. Maybe 2 miles round trip.

The main trail does not go right along the cliff edge. There are paths that branch off the main trail that you can go on to look at the cliff edited.

I seen a website that said the road was very narrow. Is it wide enough for cars to pass?

If you are coming from the visitor center, there are 2 ways to get to the endless wall trailhead. Get on to the highway 19 and then 82, you will have no problem. The other way is via Lansing Loop onto 82. That is pretty much one lane road with 2 way traffic.

How strenuous is the ladder system? Is it hard to follow if you take one set down and the other back up? Will you miss diamond point if you do this?

Yes u can. Much of the upper trail is safe. You can choose to venture over to the scenic cliff side views which I would be cautious of in the snow/ice

I'm not sure but if you use google maps and just type in endless wall trail Fayetteville wv it comes up on mine! If you're going north on 19 it would be a right hand turn onto Lansing Edmond road (left hand turn if coming south) and they have signs on your right for the trail head out that road.

My husband and I will be traveling with two small dogs on leashes. Is this trail pet friendly?

Yes it is pet friendly. We saw many on leashes the day we hiked. It is a little over 2 mile hike with a few rocks and roots to navigate so make sure they are fit to do it. And maybe bring a bowl for water when you finish.
IS there any fees associated with this trail
beachlady3

It most definitely is a part of the National Park Service, but there are no fees to hike any of the trails there.
