The tour was definitely cool! We did not get to see lava flow which was ok. We would have liked to go around the tops of the mountains, which we did not do.

On the first day, got on the helicopter, fastened my sheat belt, set headphone on my head,,, and then there seemed to be some machine trouble, the pilot cancelled its flight because "the safety first" he said. The staffs made re-schedule quickly, so I could enjoy the flight on the next day safely. Thank you Cookie-san and the pilot Samantha -san, It was such a incredible experience! Only one minus point is there were no red lava fountains and lava flow at all (I knew there were no eruption these days, but still I miss it).

It was cancelled due to helecopter maintainence. They only tried calling us (we turn off our phone on vacation) and didn't leave an email (which we checked before getting a taxi to get to the airport.) They did call the taxi service back after letting us know about the cancellation when we arrived, but we were out 30 dollars in taxi fees for nothing. I'm sure it would have been an awesome experience according to the reviews.

FABULOUS!! WONDERFUL!! Can't say enough about possibly the best thing we did this trip! Expensive activity, but worth every penny. We had a beautiful sunny day, and our pilot, Chewy flew us over Volcanoes National Park. We saw the crater atop Kilauea and other cinder cones and then he showed us some beautiful waterfalls in the middle of forests. I'd never been in a helicopter before so wasn't sure what to expect, and took a Dramamine before flying jic. But the flight was smooth, Chewy shared some interesting information about the volcanoes and the terrain we were flying over. He let us know he was a pilot first and tour guide second, but he was excellent at both. We were allowed and encouraged to ask questions. I had not a single moment's worry or fear or stomach lurching or any of the things I was concerned about when we booked. Two thumbs up; highly recommend!!!

We had a rainy day experience. Our pilot did the best she could and tried to navigate through clouds and rain to get us to the sunny side of the crater… but unfortunately the weather clouded over and we did not see the crater at all. So that’s why it’s 4 stars, because our main purpose was not achieved through no fault of our pilot.
Our pilot was professional and amazing. She not only narrated the experience providing insightful information but kept us appraised of all the weather that was going around that day. The ride was very intimate with only 3 other guests ( 5 people total). It is a small helicopter, so you get one person up front with the pilot, and four on one long seat behind. Those noise reduction ear pieces are fantastic and they kept a really cool play list running throughout the ride that really helps if you’re a bit nervous. Overall it would have been a 5 star for the smoothness of the ride despite the weather conditions, but I deducted a star because they did tell us that if they cancelled because they didn’t expect to see the crater they would reschedule /refund, and they didn’t- which at this point I wish they would have.
Anyway it was a super fun and safe adventure and I would wholeheartedly recommend it, on a clear day!

The whole staff was very friendly, I believe the check in lady told me her name was cookie? And I forgot the other lady’s name but they both had great attitude and amazing energy, made my toddlers comfortable to get on the helicopter. The pilot Sam I believe? Was great!! Really cool an easy to talk to, I definitely recommend everyone to check them out!!

Unfortunately our tour was canceled due to weather, but we were treated wonderfully and given the opportunity to reschedule - but our time on the big island is over so we were refunded 100%. Thanks for taking care of us and making safety a priority. See you next visit.

Enjoyed this. A lot to do if you wanted to spend a full day. Excellent staff very educational. Views weren’t as good on the day we attended as it was rainy and cloudy. Overall really good.

What time do the flights leave throughout the day? And how long does the tour take in total, including the safety briefing and all that stuff?
Aloha! First flight of any day is 8:20 in the morning and last flight of the day is 4:20 in the afternoon. Availability will vary dependent on the number of people in your party, each persons weight and height and the type of tour you choose. Generally, allow two hours from check in time for safety briefing, boarding, tour and return to the heliport.

With this tour it would be possible to see some volcanic activity. They have canceled the boat tours and the volcano park is partially closed and I would like to find an alternative to plan my visit

Yes, with this tour you could see volcano activity and the crater, the lava flow and you can see also the jungle and falls. For me it's better than the boat tour, where you only see the lava flow into the sea... good luck and have a very good trip!

Is it better to go for a early in the day tour or later in the day tour for volcano viewing?

Thank you for reaching out to us. Unlike other places in the world our weather is not as predictable as morning and evening say like Florida. The weather will vary from day to day. You should plan your tour according to your plans for the day, leaving at least another day for reschedule due to weather if that happens.

What days of the week are your delux tours at both Hilo and Kauai?
our deluxe tours are Sunday - Saturday 8:20- 5:30 Weather permitting.

Can you bring your camera
Yes you can bring a camera or use your phone up to you.
If you choose to bring a camera we ask that you leave the straps and lens cap in the office or your car. We don't allow you to have a camera bag either, this is all due to safety. We don't want anything flying up into the rotors since we board you while they are spinning. Also if you opt to use a cell phone as your camera, we ask that you keep that in airplane mode throughout the duration of the flight.

Do you provide pick up service to Hilo?
We will stay only at Kona and it's hard to find a lava helicopter touring company near Kona.
We wonder if you have pick up service because we are really interested in your tour program.

Unfortunately Kona is too far for a pickup, the ride is roughly 2hrs or more across the saddle road. We would really like to be your tour provider, please let me know if there is any other way we could help you out.
