This was a fun, unique, informative experience! One of the highlights of our trip to the Big Island. We did the 4 hour tour which was challenging but not too hard for us (mid 40s and early 50s). Harry is kind, witty, extremely knowledgeable, and follows safety protocols. I highly recommend. You won’t be disappointed.

Harry the owner gave a very informative tour of the lava tubes. Well worth the money. It is a little hard to find but worth the effort

I loved the 2 hour cave tour my husband and I did with Harry. We saw many lavasicles and other interesting lava formations and beautiful colors in the lava rock. I was pleasantly surprised how long we walked through the cave, and the ceiling was well above us most of the time, a few very brief parts we had to duck. The cave was deep with some different levels once we got into the tube. We climbed a few very sturdy anchored ladders. Harry supplied us with helmets and flashlights. Harry is passionate about Kazumra cave and has done a lot of research and taught us a lot of geology about Kazumura and lava tube formation. We would definitely do this tour again.

Kazumura Cave is a lava tube that runs for miles from the Volcano area downwards through the Puna district - the longest lava tube system in the world. The four hour Lava Falls tour takes you through a one-mile stretch of this cave. I have known about this lava tube for years but am so glad I finally got to go. The trip is amazing on its own, but Harry, the guide, makes the journey noteworthy. Harry is quite knowledgeable and takes great care to demonstrate the complexity and diversity of the lava tube system. He provides accessible narration throughout the trip but can also go into specific information in great depth is someone is interested in more detail.

The full Lava Falls trail is moderately difficult, not because it requires great strength but because because you need stamina to climb a series of ladders for access to various levels and to scrabble over piles of breakdown rocks. This should not deter you. . . just be prepared.

And how to prepare? The lava tube was not particularly cold and with the physical activity you get a bit sweaty so a t-shirt with a windbreaker (there are water drips off the ceiling) should be sufficient. Long pants, like jeans, are required. For footwear, light weight hiking boots should work well. I went in tennis shoes and did okay, but additional stability would have been nice in some of the uneven areas.

Summary - you should do this! It is awesome. Just be prepared.

Absolutely the best part of our trip! This is a must see if you are looking for a unique, informative, inspiring and amazing adventure. Harry was full of interesting facts about the creation and formations of the lava tube. Be ready to climb sturdy ladders and walk on uneven terrain within to have an experience of a lifetime. Well worth the price!

We enjoyed our visit to Kazumura Cave. Harry was very knowledgeable and cares of the natural state of the volcano. He gives an incredible tour. It was helpful to us to see the volcano evolvement. We took the 4 hour Pit Room tour and spent time discussing the details. Harry is a world of knowledge and also shared his experiences in the volcano. After Kazumura Cave, we took a tour with another company, the 2018 Lerz8 tour and which combined above ground volcano eruption. Kazumura tour helped us understand the aftermath of Lerz8. Harry with Kazumura Cave tour provides a wealth of knowledge. We all enjoyed it and recommend it all.

My wife and I had a fantastic trek one mile into the Kazumura cave today with Harry on the 4 hour Pit Room tour. Harry is a fountain of knowledge on lava formations and paints a vivid picture of how different formations were, well, formed! (Definitely ask questions about anything you see and let Harry know if you want your tour to have more or less info stops) anyways, hiking through the cave itself was awesome - by the end I felt like an expert on lava flows, what oxides the different colors meant, and how to spot life down in the darkness. The hike is of moderate difficulty- some scrambling over loose rock falls and some slightly hair-raising ladder sections, but Harry did a great job showing us the paths that kept us and the cave safe. By the end of the tour, I was sweaty, sore, and happy.

A great opportunity to explore the longest and deepest lava tube in the world.
Harry is very informative and is obviously passionate about the tubes.

You need to be reasonably mobile to get through this,(we are mid 50’s and mobile) and there are a couple of moments if you are Afraid of heights, mostly around climbing or descending ladders, which are well made and solid.

Iam not sure about the safety processes and what would happen if someone fell or had a medical issue whilst down there. but thankfully that wasn’t an issue for us.

Overall the 2 hour trip was a once in a lifetime opportunity to experience something unique in the world. It was well put together and had plenty of interesting things to show us as we went through about 1km of the lava tubes. I’m 6’3 and there was plenty of height in most of the areas, and the helmet comes in handy where it is a bit low.

We are really glad we did it and would recommend it for people who are visiting Hawaii island.
