Road to Hana was a great trip and a highlight of our Maui experience for me and my sister! I thought it’d be long and boring but the views were amazing and the tour guide (Shawn) made several stops for photos and exploring which made our day lots of fun. The road to Hana is often times a 1 lane highway and it is a tough road to be on due to the traffic and inexperience drivers, so I highly suggest having a guide drive you to Hana rather then driving solo. Shawn our guide, was an excellent driver and entertained everyone in the bus amazingly! He’s very educated in the history and landscapes of the island, and he’ll definitely keep you on your toes on well entertained.
After this experience I highly recommend this company and if it was possible to request a specific guide you should ask for Shawn! Be sure to bring swimming gear (goggles, bathing suits, towels, etc). flip flops and walking shoes is a good idea since you can walk a lot if you chose to do so. If you want to save money you can bring your own snacks but there is plenty of food you can buy along the way.
Maui is amazing and you’ll have a great time.

Took the eight hour tour to Volcano Park last week. While enjoyable, the tour was just average. Felt kind of rushed. Especially once we got to the park. We got off the bus at the rim of the crater, had to walk a couple hundred yards for the best view, and the guide told use we had twenty minutes. We hardly even got time to take a look before it was time to run to get back on the bus. Next we the stopped at a crater view restaurant. Were told we had forty five minutes. Food didn't come until almost twenty minutes after ordering and we felt rushed to scarf it down and get back to the bus.
Half of the park was shut down due to last years eruptions. The lava tubes we thought we were going to go walk through were closed. The rim road cut off due to lava flow. For the first time since 1983, the volcano wasn't erupting and there wasn't any lava to be seen. Not their fault, but a real disappointment to come 5,000 miles to the worlds most active volcano, expecting to see rivers of lava, only to see no lava flowing. Not even smoke. Just steam vents and a half closed off park.
On an eight hour tour, I think we were in Volcano park for less than 2.5 hours? 45 minutes at the lunch stop.
And every time we stopped, we were rushed to get out, look around five minutes and then get back on the bus.
Also, when we booked the tour, it said no hotel pickup available. We had to meet at the cruise port. While walking over from the hotel, we received a txt from somebody confirming that they could come to our the hotel in 15 minutes 8:45am. Great we thought!
We walked back and waited at the front door. Two other groups also showed up waiting. 9am rolled around and I got a call from the tour driver trying to figure out where we were? I told him three times, "We are Double Tree hotel on Banyan Dr. We just got a txt 15 minutes ago and confirmed the pickup spot" But the guy I was talking to didn't understand. He kept asking, "Where? At the Banyan hotel? Where's that? Seeming completely confused! I don't know how much simpler I could have said, "We are standing right out in front of the DoubleTree. At the front door by valet There's another group of people here waiting, too. I just got a text a half hour ago confirming to meet you at the front door of the DoubleTree at 8:45am" The other group was wondering where he was, because they were told to meet there, too. They were getting really impatient somI got their name and told him "Fernandez " group was also there waiting. He still didn't seem to know where the DoubleTree was. Or why any of us were there waiting? Eventually the bus showed up 25 minutes late and we were on our way to a rushed tour of volcano park.

Took the day tour “Road to Hana” which started with an on time pick up from our hotel. Met our guide David who was the most informative, energetic and enthusiastic man. He took us all over the island visiting many places of interest and scenic beauty. Breakfast and lunch included with no shortage of water and snacks along the way. This tour is a long day (approx 12 hours from start to finish) but it is reasonably priced and well worth it.

We took the "Volcano Adventure Tour" from Hilo with convenient cruise ship port pickup. We wanted to see the Kilauea volcano and the after affects of the recent lava activity. That is exactly what we were able to see. The tour was in a comfortable, high-ceiling van capable of holding 10 passengers in our case. Our guide/driver took us up to the Hawai'i Volcanos National Park for a walking tour of the volcano - the National Park Rangers gave an excellent up-to-date review of the recent activity and impact of the lava flow day-by-day. Fascinating. The tour included stops at local Hilo places of interest and a lunch stop (we didn't particularly appreciate the pre-chosen location).

We arrived in Hilo in the morning and started our tour at the Big Island Candy Co....all i can say is that, it is a yummy Wonka filled spot...free samples and souvenirs...oh ya!! Then, our tour guide picked us up...Steve...yes he is talkative...yes the van is older...but he was quite informative, spirited and enjoyed what he does. He shared info.on himself, which we enjoyed..it made us feel like a group. He showed us many sights, took his time. Made sure we had lot's of opportunities for pictures, history on the area, restroom breaks, and cardio workouts (you do move in and out of bus, walk to places too!) So, if you don't think you like walking, this may not be for you. But, for us..we enjoyed moving about, seeing and touching things. We truly enjoyed our walk into the deeps of a volcano tube and across the lava fields.
Overall good tour...if you like a tour guide who is full energy and knows his island...then Steve is your guy.

I did read previous reviews, so I was aware of the communication problems. Everything finally got squared away (the very night before we were flying to the big island). We were a party of 5 (2 adults and 3 kids, ages 9, 11 and 12). The flight with Hawaiian Airlines was short and sweet and it was direct from Maui to the Big Island. We were picked up promptly and offered a variety of fruits and snacks from a basket. Our tour guide was great. She was very informative and was great with dealing with my son and ALL his questions! We saw waterfalls, the steam vents, several craters, the Maona Loa nut factory, lava tubes, Jagger Museum, black sand beaches, a beautiful garden, and so much more. We were not able to see a good view of the lava flow since it was a cloudy, overcast day. It made for an extremely long day. Overall, this tour had a lot of interaction and was jam packed. Not sure I would do it again, just because it was SO much information. Our tour guide made it all worth it! On a side note...Definitely wear good walking shoes!!!

Dynamic tours were pretty well organised with the pick ups and drop offs working out well. My wife was worried we werent going to make our flight back but we were ok and she worries too much. We were picked up by Steve at Hilo in what can only be described as the oldest tourist van on the island which was a surprise. Old and creaky and pretty uncomfortable it certainly didnt impress. Our driver Steve was talkative and outgoing but I warmed to him as the trip progressed although i still think i believed only about 75 percent of what he told us.
As far as the sights go all i can say is WOW. The volcano is the highlight although i was personally most impressed by the lava tube
My wife missed quite a few of the sights as she isnt as mobile as most people so thats something to consider if you dont walk too well.
All up it was a good day

So my tour was great. But not the one I booked or paid for! I spent my last day on the islands revisiting places I had already been on a ten hour tour. First they told us to go to the wrong town to be picked up then when I sorted that out they booked us on a the wrong day so we have to sort that one two. The the bus with our names showed up so we got on only to realise it was not our tour and we were trapped.
As it's a third party company I now know you can book all these tours cheeper directly though the tour company's. AVOID THIS COMPANY. i feel like I have been robbed.

When booking tours in Hawaii, please check "from" or "starting from." Dynamic Tour Hawaii offers tours on all islands. If you are not sure where you are and whether the tour starts from the island you will be, please call and ask. If you had booked all the tours with us, we could tell you that the tour you had booked is the same tour and you should take action to correct your situation. There are different prices for starting from different locations. If you paid a tour from Hilo, it's much cheaper than booking a tour from Oahu, Waikiki, Honolulu or Maui. Please make sure you pick the correct starting point. We ask customers to reconfirm their tours atleast 24 hours in advance. This is if everything you had provided at the time of booking is correct. If you are not sure, please call us at least 72 hours prior to your tour. Remember we do have "from" at the end of each tour title. Please text us at 1(808)699-7123 to at least ask if it's correct. Example : If you booked a tour titled "Volcano Adventure Tour from Hilo," we expect you to be in Hilo. Your pickup is in Hilo. We need you to be in Hilo for the tour. Another Example is "Road to Hana from Maui," the title itself gives you the starting point. If you are in Honolulu and book the "Road to Hana from Maui," it is impossible for us to pick you up from Oahu for this tour. But if you booked "Road to Hana for Oahu," we can pick you up from your hotel on Oahu. I am really sorry that you booked the similar tour twice. I am sorry that you booked the tour out of different town away from where you are staying. If you would like to discuss further please e-mail us.

I did not get to go on my tour with Dynamic - so this review is based on my experience with the company itself. (I did end up doing the same tour with Kailani Tours, and it was great!)
I booked my tour 6 weeks in advance (online) for the 27th of the following month, and received two confirmations the next day - one for my payment and one confirming that I was booked! Also that day I received another email asking if I could move my tour to the 26th - I replied right away explaining that I would be flying in the night of the 25th and that I didn’t want to risk booking something the morning after travelling, should something go wrong with my flights. But I did give them another date to work with, if the one I booked wasn’t going to work. They didn’t respond to me until over a month later and simply stated that they could only do the 26th. I replied explaining once again why I could not do that date and asked them to cancel my tour and refund my credit card. They confirmed my cancellation. But I am still awaiting my credit and it’s been almost two months since the date my tour would have been. I emailed them and left detailed voicemails with no response. Their cancellation policy states that you have up until 48 hours prior to your tour to cancel (mine was forcibly cancelled 2 weeks prior). I finally had to contact my credit card company and they will be trying to get my refund back.
I would never book with Dynamic, just based on this experience alone. The volcanoes speak for themselves - any tour of them would be amazing no matter the company. But it’s the little things with the company you go with that make the tour great! And if a company is unable to keep your tour date, then they should be crediting your payment right away! Kailani tours was amazing, and I would highly recommend them.

Our tour guide, Dexter was very knowledgeable and friendly - he did an excellent tour!
On the other hand, We felt that the contact person that was supposed to meet us and made sure we were picked up by the pier did not do a good job at all. My spouse was on a wheelchair and we had to go and meet them 3 or 4 blocks from the pier! Not good!
