My husband and I took the kayak out to cpt cook monument. It was about a 25 min kayak out there. Good workout. Water is so clear and beautiful. We saw a whale and multiple dolphins. The snorkeling was good. They provide you with a dry bag so that is nice. They give you a little briefing before you go in. It's pretty easy if you follow directions. Don't forget to tip them! They are working their tails off! Highly recommend

The team running the kayak stand are great, super helpful, fast and efficient. Let us know which day was best for kayaking based on the swell and waves. My husband and daughter (14yo) rented a double, and saw dolphins on their way to Captain Cook, then snorkeled. Bring your snorkels for sure. Be prepared to workout though, it's no joke paddling out there and back.

This was a great rental option. We were able to drive right to the launch and didnt have to transport gear or boats. The staff was very instructive about getting to and from the bay. Incredible boating and snorkeling at the bay. Highly recommend!

The guys at the water were extremely kind and helpful. Made us feel safe going out and coming in even though the swells were a little high. Got to see lots of fish, spinning dolphins, and even a mama whale with her baby very close ( not closer than is permitted) It was an awesome trip- the highlight of our excursions here!

My 13 yo daughter and I rented a double kayak at 8am. Highly recommend booking an early morning, as we were the first ones into the bay to snorkel and saw a mom and baby humpback on our way. Arriving before the boat tours was key to a great experience, in my opinion.
The individual who checked us in was sort of new and did not give us the best direction or advice, but we were able to figure things out. The other individual working there and whom we saw later leading one of the tours was very knowledgeable and informative. Overall an absolutely magical, memorable experience and saved so much money by not going on a boat with 1000 other snorkelers.

Jamal and Kevike made our kayak adventure amazing!! Jamal knew everything about the local wildlife and his confidence and professionalism made us feel completely at ease getting through the waves in the cove. He told us about the mother and baby whale in the next bay and we were able to watch them for a while—unbelievable! The snorkeling was absolutely the best we’ve seen ever—out of all the islands. Watching the parrot fish was a highlight. So glad we did this instead of a charter boat. The water was so blue and warm. Thank you Ehu and Kai!!

The information regarding where to pick-up the equipment was very clear and helpful regarding where to park. The SUPs and the snorkel equipment worked very well. The employees provided a good description of what to expect and how to identify the cove on the return paddle. We had a great time.

On our recent trip to the big island, we rented two double kayaks and spent a few hours going across the bay. We saw spinner dolphins and a lot of colorful fish, and had the option to go snorkeling, but decided not to. It was a beautiful day and we got a good view of the Captain Cook Monument. The only complaint I have is that it was somewhat difficult to locate the launch site, as well as parking. My brother in law went to drop us off by the entrance, as I am on crutches and my mother has some mobility issues and we couldn't walk very far, and a nearby neighbor was screaming at us that we could not park there - when we were clearly not parked, as the car was still running and we were quickly taking items out of it. We were also not near her property. This produced a bit of a sour note at the beginning, but we managed to enjoy the rest of the trip.

HI, when you get to captain cook, how do you get back on the kayak after snorkeling? is there any place to dock the kayak? also during snorkeling, do you have to tie the kayak with you the entire time?

My wife and I shared a kayak. It has a rope that you can loop onto your hand. The kayak is light and it was no problem towing it around while we snorkeled. Once we were done snorkeling, one of us held the boat on the opposite side from the person entering the boat. Once the first person is in the boat, the other person pulls himself into the boat while your partner leans to the opposite side to keep it steady. You are not allowed to land the kayak on the beach. The staff at Ehu are great and will explain everything to you. Enjoy!

Hi, we are family of 5 (me, my wife and 3 boys age 5, 8 and 10):
-we plan to rent 2 kayaks ( one for 2 people and one for 3 people..... one adult in each kayak). Is it too difficult and dangerous for the children?
-our main target is to swim with the dolphins, how long do we need to kayak from shore to the dolphin's place?
-I am planning to go on sunday 15april, whats the best time to start the kayak to have highest chance of seeing the dolphins?

Aloha, The best time for kayaking and visibility for snorkeling is early in the morning. We open at 7am am! Booking online between 7am and 9am is best.
