Hardly any waterfall to see; they are in a drought right now. Sandwiches were barely eatable. Make sure you have rugged shoes, lots of slippery rocks.

We had so much fun on this tour. The kayaking is peaceful and the water calm. The hiking portion is easy enough for any ability. Secret Falls is beautiful! Trey, our guide, was quite knowledgeable and answered a variety of questions about local wildlife and island history.

This your was a gift from us to our adult children and their families. All 10 of them had a great time, from ages 11 to 45. They did it at the beginning of our vacation which was a plus because their guides, besides giving them a very enjoyable tour, gave them a lot of information about the island. They were very friendly and relatable to all ages and picked up what our kids were looking for. We have an adventurous family and the guides gave them hiking suggestions that they probably wouldn't have found on their own. Based on everything we heard about when they got back, I would highly recommend this tour.

This was a very beautiful excursion. It was a little strenuous, and the hike in was at an accelerated pace led by the guide, but we made it and it was worth it. The sun coming over the waterfall displayed a rainbow that was amazing.

We already love kayaking but to do it in Kauai was amazing. Our guide Trey was so fun to talk to along the way. We would hands down recommend this tour!

We had a great experience on this tour! It was hard work but worth it! Our tour guide, Shae, made the trip super memorable.
It's not as "secret" as I'd hoped it to be - there are lot of people going on tours to this waterfall. But the adventure of getting there was super fun and the waterfall was amazing! The lunch they provided was fresh and yummy.
If you're worried about how strenuous it is - both myself (28) and my mom (64) were able to handle the physical activity required and we are not avid hikers/kayakers. We were never out of breath on the hike, but you do have to climb up rocks and walk through rivers. We had a harder time with the kayaking but even still, we were able to do it. Just a little sore the next day haha.
TIPS - They give you one drybag for 2 people and you take the drybag with you on the hike. So think about how much you're packing since you'll be hiking with it. They provide water bottles so no need to bring your own. Bring bug spray!

Amazing experience with our Tour guide Shey.
We felt safe the whole time and had so much fun with him.
He has a lot of experience and provided us with interesting information about the river, trails, plants, and history of the area.
We had lunch at the secret falls and Shey made a cool flower arrangement for us.
The secret falls are spectacular!
Definitely coming back again.

This was a perfect way to spend an afternoon. Kayaks in great condition. Trip left on time. Shea was our fabulous guide. As a native of Kauai he was able to give us some of the local lore and a different my frame of reference. The kayak portion and the hiking portion were about equal in duration. The pace was easy to handle. The waterfall was Absolutely gorgeous. This was a highlight for us!

This was the highlight of our Kauai trip!! Our guide Thomas was the nicest guy, and so much fun to talk to. We loved the whole experience. He stopped and showed us cool different plants and fruits on the hike and was just such a huge part in making this such a fun experience! Swimming in the falls was incredible. This is easy enough for kids. Super easy hike.

Does this trip actually take you to the Fern Grotto?

We do not go to Fern Grotto. You can schedule a boat ride with Smith's which will take you to Fern Grott.

Would this be too strenuous or at all dangerous for a 7 month pregnant woman? I am active, have kayaking experience, and do personal training twice a week while pregnant.

Thanks for your question. Our policy is to protect both of you, therefore we cannot accept bookings for women who will be 20 weeks pregnant or more on the date of the tour. Women who are under 20 weeks pregnant are accepted based on trail conditions. Aloha.
