We got a phone call the last minute about an event cancellation an hour before the event citing some forecast around 2:30pm. We figured out that we can just rent a kayak instead and do it all on our own.

We apologize for the last minute canceled trip on March 17, 2025 Marina. Please understand that we carry a permit from the State to operate guided tour that come with strict rules and regulations. According to the weather forecast a Flash Flood Watch was issued that day and in effect till 6pm that evening. We need to follow rules and regulations that come with the permit or we could get fined and loose our permits. Also going out in weather advisories carry a risk of danger not only for our guides, but for our guests as well. Here at Ancient River Kayak safety is our #1 priority.

The trip was great. Sierra, our guide was the highlight. She provided local knowledge and made the trip a great experience. The pre and post support was easy. The trip was outstanding a beautiful row up the river to a wonderful hike ending at the magnificent secret falls. The best recommendation I can provide is that we will go again.

Today, I found out I'm getting older than I knew.
Damn it!
The day's activities included a 45-minute kayak trip to a trail head for a mile hike to a beautiful waterfall. I want to thank Ancient River Kayaks, particularly Mr. Trae Menard, my/our tour guide.
I'm sure you all have figured out that means a 2-hour hike on ground that reminded me of Romancing the Stone, and a 1.5-hour kayaking trip. My legs became rubber, my arms became weak, and I don't want to talk about my balance.
Would I do it again? Most likely not, now that I know how difficult it was for me.
Would I recommend it to younger people? A resounding YES!
I found the nearest person on the trip was 20 years my junior. And yes, go enjoy, try to get Mr. Trae Menard as your guide, a real nice fella with a son that will be attending college in Oregon.
I hope I can walk in the morning.
To be fair, I will be 77 this year.
UPDATE, I CAN WALK, meant to be funny

Fun kayak trip up the river and then hike to the falls. Trey provided excellent insight into the trip and was a great guide. It was a fun activity and was worth doing.

Sierra was wonderful and so was the trip! A great way to see the River and secret falls! Easy kayak and hike…great for anyone!

Beautiful weather facilitated a gorgeous kayaking adventure on the calm Wailua river! Our guide, Kai ellie, was knowledgeable, accommodating and friendly. The dip in the freshwater pool next to the waterfall was invigorating and a perfect photo op!

The very best company to experience the Secret Falls adventure with. Been doing it with them for seven years now. Always knowledgable, friendly guides. Equipment in good repair. The river was great. Thanks to Ty for being so great for us this year.

Our guide Ty was a great tour guide and full of interesting information on the island, agronomy of the land and history related to our trip. We were a group of 5, aged 29 to 68 and the trip was a nice balance of kayaking and hiking. We checked in at 7:00 and were on the river about 30 minutes later. Based on the number of visitors to the falls as we were leaving, I would definitely recommend an early start. Highly recommend this trip.

My husband and I greatly enjoyed our kayak and hiking tour. Our guide was Ty, and he was great! He gave us insights into what we were seeing along the way, and was engaging and kind. We were first time kayakers and Ty gave us a tutorial and we were good to go. I would recommend this tour for those that enjoy the outdoors and being active.

Absolutely best Wailua Kayak Tour ever! Be sure to ask for the tour guide Ty who has worked there for more than 14 years and knows the river and the trail leading to the amazing waterfall better than anyone I know...he made every one of us 10 attendees feel special and took care of everyone of us...Ty also knows the cultural and historical perspective of the area and the land and the waterfall....be sure to ask for him...nearly a six hour trip and the best ever!!!!!

We had a coupon for $40 off. We spent roughly $115. It was about four and a half hour tour.
