We were staying at Kahana Beach Resort and discovered this public park/beach in past visit. Has great parking, lawn above beach area, restrooms/changing area with shower area by beach to clean sand off your feet. Shaded gazebo in park. Just a great access spot on a world famous beach!

We did Snuba here and it was a nice beach. The reef was very clear the day we were there. Lots of people around but didn't feel crowded. Parking was easy at 8am and bathrooms were clean.

More sewer processing is being built across the street. The sewer processing in Mahinahina has closed and the sewer from that area is being sent to Kaanapali. The County of Maui did publish a map showing how the wastewater, that contains sewer flows North from this beach park.
A hospital is being built and 800 homes are scheduled to be built in this area. I hope they build another sewer processing plant for them.

It is a very nice beach at the bay. The water is usually calm and swimming is good. The entrance to the water is good, and safe for children.

We traveled to Kahekili by trolley from our hotel. We enjoyed the ride because we got to see other areas of Maui. The trolley driver was very helpful to us. The park and beach area was full of people enjoying the beautiful scenery. Parking is available.
My impression was that many families brought their own beach chairs and umbrellas. I did not see any beach rentals.
I enjoyed just catching the sun on the beach. My husband loved the snorkeling. He saw more sea life at Kahekili than on the catamaran snorkeling trip we made.

Easy parking (for Maui), bathroom, showers and clean long stretch of beach. Loved swimming there because the water was so clear. Also easy snorkeling because the reef is so close to shore.

One of the best all round beaches on West Maui with ample free parking and good facilities for both resort guests and the public. We didn’t try snorkelling but felt safe swimming in the waters

Grassy area, showers, bathrooms, walk to it from many resorts but ample parking if you don't. Very calm but beach drops off quickly from shore so watch the littles. We thought this was the best off beach snorkeling we did. Reef at perfect depth for viewing, large variety of fish and several turtles.

We tried a bunch of beaches (Kaanapeli, Napili, Kapalua, Waleia) and went to Honolua Bay but liked Kahekili the best for both snorkeling and sunbathing. Great sandy beach with 3 decent restaurants for lunch. The reef is right off the beach with lots of fish, the occasional turtle and vibrant coral. Worth a trip.

Excellent spot to go snorkelling with your own gear. We rented our gear from The Snorkel Store less than 2km away and spent the morning snorkelling. The reef is only a few metres off the shoreline and contains a lan abundance of fish - we even saw a moray eel.
The beach is also a great spot to pass the time building sand castles with young kiddos. The facilities at the park have a washroom, picnic tables, and a shower to rinse off.
Get there early as parking fills up by around 9am or so.

I’m assuming the public grills are charcoal? Do I need to purchase all items ahead of time? (Charcoal, lighter fluid, lighter)

Looking at Google's directions to this beach park, it says "restricted access roads." What's the best way to get here via car?

No idea what Google is talking about. Follow the directions to the parking lot(go before noon for a space) take your beach chairs you rented from Snorkel Bobs and your cheap styrofoam cooler you bought from Longs Drugs full of Longboard Lagers and Sushi—you’re golden!
