We had been coming to West Maui for over ten years for two week stays in January or February. This year was the worst, and our last. The Sandy Beaches on the west side from Mile Marker 14 in Olowalu, all the way North to Ka'anapali are eroded. The local government refuses to intervene and the beaches are gone. The weather was particularly bad this January, though we had enjoyed many visits in the past with different weather patterns. This year the snorkel boats were not running in the rough seas and the local homeless / houseless were everywhere. The are tents and debris in front of the resorts in Ka'anapali, as well as the beach parks. There seems to be little motivation to clean things up. There was an on going demonstration in front of Whalers Village letting us know we were not welcome as visitors. The topper was our experience on a quiet evening walk after dinner. A group of Hawaiian Youth came up behind my husband and I screaming profanities, yelling us to go back to the mainland. One of the youths three a full glass of ice and soda at my head from behind. It was unprovoked and came out of nowhere. We tried to talk to the assailant, but he continued to yell insults and profanities. We made a report to the Maui Police. This was our worst experience in West Maui, and have to conclude things have changed here drastically for the worst.

We were staying at Kahana Beach Resort and discovered this public park/beach in past visit. Has great parking, lawn above beach area, restrooms/changing area with shower area by beach to clean sand off your feet. Shaded gazebo in park. Just a great access spot on a world famous beach!

We did Snuba here and it was a nice beach. The reef was very clear the day we were there. Lots of people around but didn't feel crowded. Parking was easy at 8am and bathrooms were clean.

More sewer processing is being built across the street. The sewer processing in Mahinahina has closed and the sewer from that area is being sent to Kaanapali. The County of Maui did publish a map showing how the wastewater, that contains sewer flows North from this beach park.
A hospital is being built and 800 homes are scheduled to be built in this area. I hope they build another sewer processing plant for them.

It is a very nice beach at the bay. The water is usually calm and swimming is good. The entrance to the water is good, and safe for children.

We traveled to Kahekili by trolley from our hotel. We enjoyed the ride because we got to see other areas of Maui. The trolley driver was very helpful to us. The park and beach area was full of people enjoying the beautiful scenery. Parking is available.
My impression was that many families brought their own beach chairs and umbrellas. I did not see any beach rentals.
I enjoyed just catching the sun on the beach. My husband loved the snorkeling. He saw more sea life at Kahekili than on the catamaran snorkeling trip we made.

Easy parking (for Maui), bathroom, showers and clean long stretch of beach. Loved swimming there because the water was so clear. Also easy snorkeling because the reef is so close to shore.

One of the best all round beaches on West Maui with ample free parking and good facilities for both resort guests and the public. We didn’t try snorkelling but felt safe swimming in the waters

Grassy area, showers, bathrooms, walk to it from many resorts but ample parking if you don't. Very calm but beach drops off quickly from shore so watch the littles. We thought this was the best off beach snorkeling we did. Reef at perfect depth for viewing, large variety of fish and several turtles.

We tried a bunch of beaches (Kaanapeli, Napili, Kapalua, Waleia) and went to Honolua Bay but liked Kahekili the best for both snorkeling and sunbathing. Great sandy beach with 3 decent restaurants for lunch. The reef is right off the beach with lots of fish, the occasional turtle and vibrant coral. Worth a trip.

No idea what Google is talking about. Follow the directions to the parking lot(go before noon for a space) take your beach chairs you rented from Snorkel Bobs and your cheap styrofoam cooler you bought from Longs Drugs full of Longboard Lagers and Sushi—you’re golden!
