Mike was a great guide- taught us about the equipment and how to tie the appropriate knots. We were able to take the climbs as quick or slow as we felt comfortable with. Neither of us had any experience climbing before, and one of our group is terrified of heights, but it was a fun and unique experience for our Maine trip. Would do again.

Wow. Add to the awe-inspiring site of the Otter cliffs the thrill of climbing: I cannot think of a better way to experience coastal Maine. Even as an absolute beginner, in a couple of hours, I got way out of my comfort zone, learn basics moves and skills and safety rules, and had a glimpse of why people like to tackle those heights! I was intimidated but Pro instructor Mike F. was down to earth and fed the information as we got along, making sure I got it and I fell I could trust him with my life. Many times he said « ok breathe and take it in ». The granite. The exposure of the North Atlantic ocean. The breaking waves beneath your feet. The breeze. Exhilarating. I highly recommend this intro with Mike to just anyone, any age! I cannot think of any reason not to try it. Ok and there is the cool factor! Trish

From the moment we showed up for our am climbing session, we were impressed by the service orientation of our guide, Reed. He asked what we hoped to get from this experience and tailored our session accordingly. We started with a few easy climbs to build confidence and then he matched us each with climbs that challenged us at exactly the right level. His level of instruction and communication were perfect. He was very patient and provided exactly the right level of coaching when needed. Reed’s incredible positivity came through the entire session. Even though we are beginners, he instilled confidence in us and made this an awesome experience.

This is my second summer climbing in on Mt. Desert Island with ACS. Last year I climbed twice, and I loved it so much that I booked three times during my vacation week this year. Ryan (there are two Ryans - ours is the one who is NOT the new owner) has been our guide every time, and he's been awesome. I brought along some family members who were inexperienced and fearful, and he helped them to feel totally safe, and to conquer their fears. With me, he's been helpful when asked, but he's also been patient and allowed me to solve my own problems. A truly great teacher. Climbing ocean-side cliffs has been among the greatest adventures of my life! Huge thanks to Ryan and ACS!

Went climbing this past weekend. Reed and Hailey were amazing! Great guides. My 10 year old was very hesitant to climb but Hailey was able to talk her through the whole thing and she was able to happily climb 4 walls, including the over the cliff and climb up course. We had a great time and would highly recommend this company to anyone who would like to have a thrilling experience. Two thumbs up.

This was AMAZING! None of us had ever climbed before - and we absolutely loved it. It was my husband and I and our 2 sons - who are 9 and 5. Our guide, Ryan, was incredible. Kind, patient, professional, encouraging, and such an excellent teacher. We will never forget this experience.

Our group booked a half-day climb with Atlantic Climbing School last weekend, and our morning was a highlight in a trip filled with great experiences. Almost all of us were brand new to climbing, and we had two children with our group who were at times eager and at times overwhelmed. Kincaid and Sam took great care of us, teaching us clearly and offering kindness and patience at the times when folks struggled. The area was incredibly beautiful, and our whole experience was just great. thanks so much!

We were newbies and in our 50s. Reed took this into account but took us to a place that was exhilarating and challenging enough to give us a great sense of accomplishment. Reed was patient and encouraging. He was fantastic. Highly recommend!

Can't say enough about how fun our experience with Atlantic Climbing School was. Our guides were so professional and helpful; allowing us to scale rocks we didn't think possible. This was our first time doing climbing outside a gym and they made it infinitely doable. I'd recommend this school to anyone. One of the highlights of our Maine vacation.

As a formerly avid climber, this was the thing I was most anticipating when visiting Acadia, and I was absolutely right! Our guide Mike took our very mixed group (two with no experience, one with gym only, and then me) and found us an experience with comfort and just a little challenge. He ensured safety in a way that still felt chill and gave me a little freedom as I started to recall my old skills. He was encouraging to our new climbers and helped them overcome their nerves. He showed my husband how to transition from gym to rock and we're now hoping to find a similar guide service in our area to continue that transition!
Don't worry about any experience level when booking with these folks- they know how to handle it!
