Nice stairway. The steps themselves aren't fancy but the surrounding gardens and views are nice. It's a short walk down the the Castro.

Quite a boring and mundane stairway. I was Yelping, after doing the Hidden Garden, and found this one. Meh. I guess I should be happy I knocked out another SF stairway. It wasn't crowded -- so there's a plus?
Don't waste your time here unless you're on a mission to complete every SF stairway. No views, the houses are okay, no mosaics. Just nothing that makes this a necessary stairway.

This is another unique example of San Francisco's wonderful sight seeing magic. Good excercise. Beautiful seanery. The mailman must be in great shape.

Tucked away near the end of Ord St in the Upper Market area, the Vulcan steps have to be among the longest street stairways in the City. It is quite a workout to climb them but well worth it. Good views abound and the houses and gardens along the stairs are quaint and well-maintained. And you feel so good after having climbed to the top. Saturn steps are about a half a block away, also off Ord. They are much shorter and less interesting.
