We took our children to this place and now are taking our grandchildren. It is wonderful fun for all. Our grandchildren are 6,3, and 3 months and the 6- and 3-year old loved it. For $3 you get to ride a small diesel train, around a pretty large track area and you go around three times. There are also handcars for the kids to ride that will give "PawPaw" a workout pushing them up the gentle inclines. A short walk away is a train museum with a train layout. Great afternoon activity and well worth the little bit of money you pay.

Our children LOVED this stop and I'm so glad we were able to go! It was a sweet place to visit before touring Harpers Ferry. The lady and gentleman running the museum and train were so kind. We were short a couple of dollars and they allowed us to ride the train anyway. Very sweet people. BRING CASH. We didn't know that before going, but that's because I found that on TripAdvisor and not Facebook, it does say it there! We loved it, especially with the kids! GO!

Great event for kids. Owner super friendly and nice. Very well maintained. Definitely go and give them your business. Has a real life train ride Also has a pedal car ride and a museum

Super friendly owners. Very knowledgeable about trains and their establishment goes back generations. Pet Friendly. Great for children. The miniature train ride was so fun!! Ended our visit there, looking at the amazing extended collection of train memorabilia in the toy train museum on the property. Well worth the trip.

Took 4.5 and 7 year old grandchildren. Spent hours. Very low key, lovely day. The folks working there are terrific: patient, flexible, and kind.
It's very easy to explore everything because it's so small, but there is plenty of detail for young train aficionados. I walk well but with a cane. I managed even the hills easily. Our day was cool (low 60sF) and sunny.
This a place to focus on the children, slow-paced, lots of time to listen to their opinions and observations as you walk around the few acres looking at all the details they've included. The more the child knows about trains the more fun it is.
Everything is $2. We rode the Joy Line first. That circles the lot 3x. Then we walked over to areas we'd seen from the train to look at them more closely, like a gnome under a tree. Such a low key day!
Next they rode the "paddle cars." They're like paddle boats for children. The 7 yo zoomed around the track and the nearly 5 yo needed a wee bit of help on inclines. You get a pole that fits into a groove in the back of the car that lets you give them little push without bending over.
I brought a picnic and hot chocolate so we laid out our quilt on a sunny slope and lazed about discussing trains and unicorns. Afterwards we visited the train display ($2) which is in a three car garage size building. We went over budget because they rode the paddle cars once more. ;) We shut the place down.
I saw the kids a few days later and they wanted to go back.

Interesting museum. Ride the Tony railroad, really fun. Plan to revisit when they openings spring. The handicap ride was great. Builds muscles. Great fun.

This is a private collection handed down from father to son. Has some of the best collection of toy model railroad equipment and a working Lionel train! You can also get a ride on a small railroad (Joy Line) when done with the museum

This place is a very good place to take children very friendly and it’s unbelievable that this started as a hobby. Plan to be here between 1 to 2 hours very inexpensive.

I always enjoy finding ways to work trains into adventures with the kids (just like my Dad) and the Joy Line Railroad and Toy Train Museum is a great place to stop if you happen to be near Harpers Ferry. The highlight is the small train you can ride around the property, but they also have a small museum feature model trains and railroad artifacts. We stayed for 45 minutes or so and were able to see/do everything. They also had a small gift shop with some interesting items (kind of like a garage sale to be honest), but the kids loved giving a new home to several of the toys for sale. Will probably come back for a visit again in the future.
