This is a branch of the Rhode Island Historical Society that tells the story of the industrial development of Woonsocket, RI with emphasis on the textile workers who came from Canada. Hard to describe the wide array of informative exhibits (several of which are interactive) but you will learn a lot about the history of the Blackstone River/Valley. Easy parking in front or across the streets.

We stumbled upon this museum as a rainy day activity. It provided an interesting look at the local history of the mills in the area as well as the immigrants who migrated here for work. Although relatively small, it gives a good look at a subject many know little about.

I love the city of Woonsocket. It was my home for 16 years. I always felt safe here. Everybody had a job. Everybody was friendly. Everybody was Catholic. Everybody was nice. I hope it's still nice.

This museum explains in a non-patronizing way about the French-Canadian mill towns and cities. They've collected everything and shown it the right way, e.g. an entire Catholic parochial school classroom and furnishings. I am impressed.

Step back to the late 19th, early 20th century in industrial New England. Especially interesting for those of you with an interest in French-Candian culture/history.

This was an unexpected delight. Learned a lot about the mills and mill workers of RI. We had no idea that there was such a strong French-Canadian influence in RI. There is a wonderful section focusing on all the Catholic Schools of RI. Expected to spend about an hour, well 3 hours later we still hadn't seen it all in detail. We will be back again

This informative museum tells a critical story in American history as we transitioned from an agricultural society to an industrialized country. It is an important story of our immigrant ancestors and even though this area of Woonsocket, RI seems to focus on French Catholics it is a story that mirrors so many of our ancestors regardless of country of origin, race, religion, etc. Especially at a time when our country is so divided it reminds us of a common origin of courageous people who ventured to an unknown country hoping for a better life for their children and they succeeded. This museum can easily be viewed in about an hour and should not be missed if you are anywhere in the area.

This is a neat, small but most interesting museum. It gives you insight in the lives of the people that left their farms and came to works in the textile industry. The development of cloth making and parts of every day life of the many immigrants that came to earn a living and build an existence in the US.
The staff is very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful.

The facility is clean and well organized, allowing the visitor to engage the displays in a chronological order. Staff is wonderful. Very much worth some time to view the offerings, which will bring back memories for many people who grew up in New England.

We had been told about this museum and we had a wonderful visit, we spent about two hours in the museum and enjoyed it. Loved the exhbits, and especially listening to the mill worker's stories. The touch map on the second floor is a great exhibit. And a very nice bookstore and very awesome staff/volunteers!
