I visited the museum in September and thoroughly enjoyed it. The resident artist greeted me at the door and was very informative, friendly and welcoming. I had come for the purpose of viewing the Aspelta tomb exhibition and to see the finds that had come from the excavations. Following this I browsed around the galleries for a while and was impressed with the art on display and found the pieces really interesting. The galleries were bright and the benches in just the right spots to view the pictures and take a rest.
Just as a bit of advice the route from the train station as you walk brings you to the back of the building first- which looks closed. At first I was worried that it was not open, but the entrance is actually on the other side - so make sure you check both first.

I was really looking forward to visiting this museum, but was disappointed to discover (at the door of the museum) that it is closed on weekends.
Surely this would be when most people want to visit?

El museo es realmente pequeño y no cuenta con muestras permanenetes. Cuando yo fui estaba una muestra sobre beisball, lo cual mostraba la discriminacion que existía incluso en los deportes.
Lo mas interesante fue un video que se reproduce permanentemente y en 15 minutos muestra en detalle la evolucion de la comunidad afro desde la esclavitud hasta la "igualdad de derechos" que existe hoy en dia.
Finalmente, ofrecian un tour guiado por el edificio donde funciona el museo, que fue el primer lugar en el que los afroamericanos comensaron a agruparse y donde funciono la primera escuela para ellos en boston.
Para acceder hay que pagar un ticket muy economico, de entre 3 y 5 dolares aprox.
