We were fortunate to visit this observatory when B.U. offered free stargazing on Wednesday nights. Top-notch telescopes located in their Physics Research Building allow you to stargaze where you never have before. Book a reservation in advance.

This is a great institution with a great history. Martin Luther King went to the seminary which was a methodist school.

ボストン大学にある施設で、丸みのある建物が可愛らしいです。パブリック・オープンの日もありますが、予約が必要です。天気も関係があるので、実際に利用できればラッキーです。

Worth going to. All the Boston schools are well maintained and have beautiful architecture. It's for sure worth taking any teens to see to inspire some dreams!

If you're looking for something different to do on a Wednesday night in Boston, this is worth checking out. It's a little weird walking through the academic building at night, and then when you get there it isn't exactly what I expected- in my mind it was going to be one of those big ole' telescopes with the dome roof that spin around- in reality its a few telescopes on the roof of the building with about 50 people standing in line to take a peep (we saw M13 and Saturn). With all that said, it was something fun and different to do- but not something I'd plan my day around.

I found this free event on TripAdvisor and, having never seen the night sky for myself, was quite keen to go along. So having followed the Twitter feed to check it was on (Wednesday evenings, but they don't run the event if it's too cloudy) I wandered along to check it out. I found it to be not at all signposted - you wander into a building and find your way up to the roof (I don't think I'd have been brave enough just to head to the top of an unknown building if I hadn't asked someone).
But once you're there, you know you're in the right place! There were three telescopes - I got to see the moon (surprisingly interesting), two stars (I think they were stars, not very exciting) and Saturn (not very big, but great to see a 'star' in the sky blown up to a recognisable shape). There were people (I assume students) there to help and answer questions, who were keen and engaging.
So it was good, but perhaps not the amazing evening out you might anticipate - three queues, and at the end of each you get a fairly brief glimpse of the sky. The view of the Boston skyline was well worth seeing. If you go on your own, I strongly recommend asking some strangers to take a photo of you against the backdrop of the city (in the dark your camera will probably take a poor photo, but it's a good way to start a conversation!)
