The absolute best science theater. The shows are always amazing, interesting, informative, and have magnificent photography. This has always been our favorite thing to do. The seats recline and the entire ceiling is the movie screen. Try to sit in the middle towards the back. Check out the offerings (they change) . The best experience.

Mugar Omni theatre is inside Museum of science building. It is a dome theatre with excellent sound system. Documentary films are shown here. Seating arrangements are nice. 4D effect is good. Best experience.

What a great way to show educational films that will have kids and adults alike interested and tuned in! I loved going to see a show growing up! The theater makes you feel like you are really in the scene!

Okay, let me just say: the whale documentary was beautiful. In a dome theater like this, hearing the ocean under the surface, the songs of the wales and feeling like I was in the sea, it really worked.
But why is there only one prominent soundtrack throughout the entire experience? Best Day Of My Life by American Authors.
I get it, there's kids here but I'm sure there was over 8 variations of the same song over and over, in piano, strings, ukulele, soundtrack with and without vocals, a child humming it, etc.
I had a tongue-in-cheek moment by the time I heard it for the 10th time. There were many missed chances of just admiring these grand creatures immersed in the ocean atmosphere ruined by "I HAD A DREAM SO BIG AND LOUD"...

I had so much fun here, the theatre was gigantic, first experiences are always the best experiences ^_^ i saw a film clip about airplanes but i couldn't help but stare at the screen surrounding us. great experience.

Amei. A tela é gigantesca (imagem 10x maior que a dos cinemas normais). Sensação de que você está dentro da tela. Muito bacana. Vale muito a experiência!

We went to the Mugar Imax, located in the Museum of Science, to watch the Panda movie. We found out you don't have to visit the Museum of Science to visit the theater and we didn't feel we had enough time to visit the museum, so we just watched a movie. The story of the Pandas was very interesting! We have visited the Imax theater outside the New England Aquarium, at Paramount Park in CA, and we have watched at least two shows at this one. Each time the movie was incredible. This time was a little disappointing. The film was really grainy looking and there were pieces of lint or dirt on the projection camera. My eyes kept getting drawn to these distracting spots.
Despite the interesting story and the absolutely adorable pandas (who doesn't think pandas are adorable?), I felt like I may not have gotten a good value on the $30 I spent for the three of us to watch this. We felt better knowing that we were helping support a good cause - the Museum of Science.
