This place is a really great interactive museum - and I think if you were looking for something fun and educational to do with kids, this would be awesome fun. As a grown up I was less into it. The exhibits are all interactive so lots of reading and clock but not much to look at, and it’s all about how the senate operates, with a fair bit of (somewhat disturbing for me personally) insight into centrist politics in America. Tl/dr: take the kids if you’re in Boston at a loose end I think they’d have fun, less for grown ups (but maybe that’s just me!)

I know that politics may sound dry at the outset, but honestly, this was such a refreshing, hands on way to learn about and experience how the Senate works. The museum is a wonderful and fitting tribute to Ed Kennedy, but beyond that it is a way to engage the public - student or adult - into the inner workings of the Senate and the House of Representatives, how a bill is passed and a room depicting the Senator's office. There is a very cool replica room of the US Senate, where you can sit in senators' seats and participate in a discussion similar to one that could take place in the Senate. It is all about how our democracy works, and has something for everyone. It was quiet when we were there and we got a nice amount of attention from the staff there. There is free parking, spacious hallways and exhibits and a small cafe as well. Go!

Each time I'm in Boston (twice a year), I need at least one day to enjoy the activities at the Institute and the JFK Library. I'm a member of both for several years. Because we need this history keeping alive for the next generations, I like to support the great work they are doing.

Found this to be a fascinating spot. Especially liked the replica of the U.S. Senate Chamber. The docent on duty was wonderful, enthusiastic and informative. Liked the chair exhibit currently in place. Enjoyed some of the interactive activities scattered around the visiting area.

Right next door to the JFK Library, this is a unique experience. Enter the replica of the U.S. Senate where Ted Kennedy served for 47 years and you become a Senator for the moment. The leader explains how you address her, explains the bill in question and then you ask questions. Debate continues for awhile before the vote is taken on iPads. A film about a major senatorial decision is also shown. Highly recommend this.

Wonderful setup for explaining why we have a Senate and how it works. Culminating in an actual on the floor of the Senate debate and vote. Staff was very knowledgeable answering some obscure questions about Senate rules. Wish our 12 & 14 yr old grandkids had been with us.

As visitors from Ireland, we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We really liked the interactive element, in particular the role playing exercise which brought the legislative process to life. We were very impressed by the level of expertise of the presenters, who answered all of our many questions! It was interesting to see how the US political systems contrast with our own. The exhibits on the Senate and its members, and on Edward Kennedy himself, were also excellent. You really come away with a sense of what the role of a Senator entails. Combined with a visit to the JFK Museum and Library, this made for a whole day outing.

What do you know about the Senate or how a bill becomes a law? Well no matter if you are young or old, well informed or a novice you will learn something at this amazing place!
You use technology to become part of the process. They also have a full sized replica of the Senate and can take part of and actual debate over a bill and vote on it! It was sooo cool!

A wonderful place for children and adults to learn about how government works. Kids would love the fact that they can use a device to sign in and tell how they voted on several bills.

This was surprise when I visited th JFK Library. Right next door to each other this focuses on the Senate and how it works. Surrounding a replica of the actual Senate Chamber in DC, all the activities go around. It has a replica of his office and some special instillations. The best exercises are the ones that put you into the Senator's shoes. The staff were well informed when asking them to explain the Senate's role when applied to issues of the day. This was a fun excercise which sadly highlighted what I had forgotten from High School.

We do have a café. The Chamber Café offers salads, soups, sandwiches, pastries, and an espresso bar. The café is open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday. It's closed on Mondays and on days when the Institute is closed to the public.
