Visiting Solano Beach from east coast. Our two 13yo wanted to learn how to surf despite us not living anywhere near the ocean. Owner and instructors were super responsive, helpful and nice. Ryan, the instructor, was great with the kids. They got into the water quickly and we’re surfing right away. It was so fun and exciting to see. They loved it. I would highly recommend.

It was our first time surfing (41 yo, 10 yo, 7 yo) and all three of us did great thanks to the awesome instructors. We were all very well taken care of and well instructed!

We booked a two hour lesson for our two boys, ages 8 & 10. We met Christian at Dog Beach in Del Mar where he got the boys into awesome wetsuits & then Greg came to teach their lesson. Greg is an incredible teacher; both boys were surfing within minutes, even though it was their first time. He even taught them to tandem surf on one board, amazing! This is one of the coolest things we've had our kids try & do. Book a lesson today! I would recommend them to anyone!

Today I treated my nephew visiting from Italy for a surf lesson with Progressive Surf Academy and he had a blast! Christian had a commitment so he recommended Jason. He showed up in time with a big smile on his face. Paolo really enjoyed his lesson, and learned a lot about the "technique" of surfing. Jason spent time in explaining it in detail and Paolo was very happy to see results right away. Standing on the board and riding several waves was very rewarding for him, who had spent several days on his own trying to figure out how to do it. Jason is not only very professional, but does everything with a lot of enthusiasm which is very contagious! My nephew said it was the best day of his vacation!

My family took lessons with Progressive Surf Academy in early May. I have 3 kids ages 6, 10 and 10. Our instructors were Peyton and Spencer. Both Peyton and Spencer were very knowledgeable and fun to hangout with. Our kids had fun with them and absolutely loved surfing. Owner Christian really knows how to pick the best spot to surf and is great to work with. Besides being a surf pro with great insights into teaching, he is a great communicator, down-to-earth person, and solid business man. Thanks for a great time and introducing our family to surfing. We'll be back for sure!

Our two teenage sons and a friend took a 2-hour beginner longboard lesson from Christian at Progressive Surf Academy, and all found surfing success their very first time on the board! Christian selected equipment and a perfect location to match their level, then provided simple, step-by-step instructions and feedback on surfing techniques and safety. The boys all came out of the water with smiles on their faces and couldn't wait to book another lesson!

I accompanied my wife Ina business trip to San Diego and took an intermediate/advanced standup paddle board surf lesson with Christian (the owner). He is the best SUP instructor that I have met thus far. I have a Board myself, which I use at the Jersey shore over the summer, but I still struggle to catch waves. Christian was very good in pointing out what I was doing wrong and gave me plenty of suggestion for how to improve my techniques. Over the course of more than two hours I was able to catch some nice waves and I had some awesome rides. Christian provided all the gear, including a wetsuit. Next time I am back in San Diego, I will definitely reach out to him again. He has my highest recommendations!

Learning how to surf has long been on my bucket list! Despite living in a family of surfers, no one has been successful in helping me check this off my list, until I met Christian! I have been a teacher and coach my entire adult life, so I immediately recognized Christian's proficiency as both a teacher and coach. Christian's patience, expertise and knowledge of the ocean, as well as his step by step, simple, yet extremely effective instructions and technique, instilled confidence in me. Christian recognized that I had anxieties of the board, the waves and the wildlife. He provided me the tools to overcome these fears that had prevented me from being successful in the past. Always keeping safety first, Christian initially pushed me into the waves but before long I was catching wave after wave on my own! It was truly the most exhilarating and personally rewarding day of my life! I was finally surfing alongside my family and turtles! Thank you, Christian, for a day I'll never forget!

If you are interested in surfing as a hobby or more I would Highly Recommend Christian at Progressive Surf Academy.
I was shocked to find myself riding waves during my first one-on-one lesson (and I'm not exactly a youngster). I have progressed significantly since and look forward to my next lesson. He is not only a professional surfer but a very professional, patient, skilled and awesome TEACHER. I was really nervous - surfing can be risky if you don't know what you are doing; Christian does all he can to make lessons Safe, Productive and Fun. He provided the gear, location and was right there with me throughout each lessons. I'm going to buy a board and gear now that I know I can actually surf. It's an empowering and gratifying experience to actually ride a wave.
I took lessons with a popular surf group in La Jolla and didn't get anything close to the quality of time and instruction I'm getting with PSA (I've also taken surf lessons from my surfer friends and don't recommend that at all!). He is very efficient, making sure each lesson is productive and enjoyable. He teaches adults (young and old), kids and even experienced surfers that want to up their skills.
I can't say enough good things about my learning experience with Christian and PSA of San Diego.

My husband and I took our first ever surf lessons with Christian a few weeks ago and it was a great experience. I had never so much as held a surf board before and by the second run I was standing up and riding a wave. He does a short on land lesson about how to stand on the board and then the rest of the time you are in the water actually practicing. The best thing about the lesson is how much hands on help he provides. He's out there with you, so after each run he can tell you what you did well and what you should do differently. This is how we figured out that even though I'm right-handed, I should lead with my left while surfing. He also points out when to ride the wave which is so necessary if you don't know how to "read the waves" yet. He is also an all around friendly and pleasant guy. We opted to get photos done from his friend Sean, which I would also recommend if you don't have special water cameras, or someone else with you who is not surfing to take the pictures. Overall highly recommend.
