Quite an attitude by a server (1 of 2) at customers. 18% gratuity already set in advance plus additional tip, as if additional tip was indeed a tip. The server threw uncomfortable glances in between.

Popped in to see the Library bar but its no more its downstairs and called the bar an grill and theres not a huge selection of cocktails but what there are on offer are nice, priced at $14.

Upon arriving at Paramount' Hotel all I wanted to do is relax for an hour. I went to their bar/lounge/restaurant. I was pleasantly surprised. Quiet, no night club atmosphere here. Ordered a drink the waiter suggested, looked at the menu, choose an entree' but asked for a modification (no meat) no problem. Wait staff coudn't have been nicer.
There are comfy, inviting sofa's, over-stuffed chairs, coffee tables, soft background music, large windows with view of city hustle bustle. Thumbs-up from me! Hope to return again.

Dark velvet, shelves lined with books, beautiful arched windows, a creative cocktail menu, and a very attentive and thoughtful cocktail server and a old world "private club" feel to it that is exactly what I was looking for.
While I am not pleased with my experience with the hotel, did I not have such mixed and frustrated feelings with my hotel experience, I can say that I would have definitely returned to this bar on one of my many return trips into the city, as it is a bar that gave me exactly the atmosphere that I find I often look for.

Unfortunately the bar is only open until 11, which is unusual since it's in the heart of Times Square. But none the less, they offered a nice drink menu with fun choices. If you get a chance, try the chocolate martini - not on the menu - but great for chocolate lovers. They have free wifi and a pool table, and the plush chairs and love seats that overlook a semi-busy street which is great for people watching.

I've been going to the Library bar off and on for 15 years. Place has been very nicely updated, and is the perfect spot for a drink or secret rendez vous. Cocktails at $13 are actually well priced for Time Square and the atmosphere is cosy.
Only issue? Service is hit or miss and they seem under staffed and the carpet over near where you can look down over the lobby smells horrid. Like spilt beer or vomit. I moved twice. Hopefully they'll start cleaning more, and everyone can focus on their great appetizers. The chicken tacos were AMAZING!

Very nice bar. I can imagine you wouldn't find this bar since it's on the 1st floor of the Paramount hotel. And even the paramount is not very easy to find if you only looking for big billboards :)
