Did this tour with the very knowledgeable Gary on Friday 13 December. It rained about 99% of the time, but it didn't dampen our enjoyment, nor Gary's enthusiasm. While one reviewer suggests taking the tour in a pub would suffice, I totally disagree - even in the rain! The stories of the Mafia are fascinating, Gary knows so much, he really does it great justice. Highly recommended.

Spent 2 hours with Matty walking the streets through China town and Little Italy. He has a wonderful depth of knowledge and a wry spirit. We enjoyed our time with him and it is a great way to get out and about in the City. We had two families ages 14 to 54 with everything in between. Everyone had a great time.

We had a wonderful afternoon with our guide Gideon touring the lower east side and learning so much about the rise and fall of the American mafia. The tour finished by little Italy so we ended the night with a yummy Italian dinner. Y’all should definitely book this tour!

- it was awesome - stopped for food (included) 3 times!! It was a small group the detective really knew his way around and had all the right stories and inside scoop!!

Guide was phenomenal !! Thank you , Patient kept us moving and together. Tip tour starts in Chinatown and ends in Little Italy so best to eat Italian when done. Lot's of walking. I really LOVED the history and knowledge of guide. So much more info than I thought I was getting for a tour. Great shopping to. Every kind of shop. Good for gifts for everyone.Group was about 12 so perfect size.

We enjoyed this tour. We learned a lot about the start of the Mafia. Our tour guide used the iPad to show pictures and this helped bring everything together

As a birthday gift for my sister, we spent the afternoon learning about old mafia hot-spots in the Lower East Side down to Little Italy! Russell had such a depth of knowledge about the history or organized crime and of this area of the city- we learned so much! It was a very unique way to spend a birthday and to then have a great dinner in Little Italy!

Thanks to Matt for making the booking so easy and working with us on a date for a private tour. Joel was fantastic and knowledgeable and even gave us great recommendations for lunch and drinks that evening. Definitely looking forward to another tour next time we visit!

As intriguing as Gary was as a tour guide, we felt like half of the tour could have been done sitting in the restaurant over drinks and him showing us pictures instead of having us walk around and stand in front of a building for 20 minutes while he explained who lived there/owned it and we couldn't even go into 95% of the locations.
We felt that the pictures and slide presentation could have been more efficient, they were scattered instead of an orderly fashion and not labeled, which I feel could have been nice to see the names as well.
Is it worth doing? Sure... is it worth $40? Unfortunately, I have to say no.
Sadly, I don't have pictures to share because I don't feel that anything we were shown in the tour was picture "worthy".

Am wondering how much walking you did on this tour? Am over 65 and I can't walk like I use to....and have always been crazy about mobsters! LOL

Hi Corvettelady, your handle tells me you got class! It's a total probably 1/2 a mile leisurely walking. There aren't any places to sit down along the way. Our guides are so entertaining though, you won't even notice all the walking you're doing and at the end, you'll be disappointed that the tour doesn't continue for another couple hours!

Hi after reading reviews fancy doing this . Is the walking very fast and intense or is it more casual as we are a bit older and not able to rush along . Thanks

It's very slow walking so would be managed easily and the distance isn't too long but there is quite a lot of standing around if you have a bad back. thoroughly enjoyed this trip though.

I think it is suitable for kids. You do learn about the cheese hands and the "bloody corner" and where other Italian mafia were killed. This is a gangster tour. Depends on what you may think is appropriate for your kids. Nothing scary or gruesome on the tour to me.

Absolutely. It's a walking tour on the streets of NYC where gangsters put a few people in wheelchairs, the ones they allowed to live!

Hi we are visiting may 2016 and wondered if this tour was suitable for my 84 year old father? He is relatively fit and walks unaided, he is very interested in the gangster history and I know he would love this!

Hi SMP, it's a two hour walking tour, all outdoors. We stop often to discuss a specific site and tell stories. Other than that, there are no sit down stops on the route. If your father is up for that than bring'em!
