I took the Hamilton's Harlem tour with Jimmy years ago, and it was amazing! I came back again a couple of years later and caught Eva's one woman show, "Raising a Revolutionary", about Hamilton's mother, Rachel. It was fantastic! It was thrilling to see her story brought to life, especially with all I learned about her from Jimmy's tour. I highly recommend Jimmy's tour and Eva's performance piece if you catch them in the fall. Most of the year they are performing in the Caribbean, but that gives me a great excuse to visit St Croix ;)

Seven years ago we did the Wall Street tour, this year as our first time back after COVID we opted for the Harlem Tour. As always, Jimmy knows sooooo much, and makes the events and locations come alive with background stories, details that most people don't know, and context it is incredible! His enthusiasm is contagious and he's been doing this for 25 years!!! No new comer to the history of Hamilton, NYC, and America. DO NOT ACCEPT ANY OTHER TOUR or TOUR GUIDE!

Eva took us on a tour of lower Manhattan and another one of mid Manhattan and Central Park. Her knowledge about everything New York is unrivaled. It was a fantastic experience and I highly recommend booking a tour with her .

I was fortunate enough to attend the special programs about Alexander Hamilton that Eva Dorrepaal and Jimmy Napoli put on in Savannah...."Understanding Alexander Hamilton & Raising a Revolutionary."
Ms. Dorrepaal gave a stunning one-woman performance as Hamilton's mother, Rachael Faucett, raising her illegitimate son in the West Indies. I found myself concentrating on her facial expressions---fear, joy, apprehension, weariness. Those expressions underscored her words. She was commanding in her portrayal.
Equally commanding is historian Jimmy Napoli. He is not a lecturer, leaning on his lectern, droning on. Given the proper setting, he is full of energy, strutting about, gesturing, drawing the audience into the dynamic and often chaotic life of Alexander Hamilton.
These two are worth seeing!

Jimmy’s lectures and Eva’s performance made the perfect combination of content and theater in broadening our understanding of Alexander Hamilton and the world that created him. They were able to fit their package of programs into the space and time available. Because of them we were able to offer programing to our audience at time when there was not much else going on. Our patrons were pleased – vocally so. What made it doubly good was that Eva and Jimmy were easy to work with and approachable for our guests.

"Understanding Alexander Hamilton & Raising a Revolutionary" is an absolute must for anyone who has the opportunity to attend it. Jimmy Napoli's historical lecture and Eva Dorrepaal's one-woman act in the role of Hamilton's mother are each exceptional works of entertainment and educational research, and, together, they compliment each other seamlessly.
Jimmy is clearly an expert on the subject of Hamilton, and his witty commentary and attention to historical details make for an intimate and colorful retelling of the life of the revolutionary. Then followed by a thrilling performance by Eva Dorrepaal, who paints every bit of space she uses with the vibrant spirit of Rachael Faucett. And succeeds beautifully in instilling a reverence in the audience for Rachael as both the mother of Hamilton, as well as an independent and courageous woman and revolutionary in her own right.

I highly recommend seeing Eva and Jimmy bring to life Hamilton’s story in a new and exciting perspective told. Having seen them in Savannah, Jimmy’s lectures bring to life the impressive role Hamilton had and still has in the founding of our country.
Eva’s performance was unique and enlightening in her role as Hamilton’s mother, Rachel Faucette. Catching a rare glimpse into the upbringing of Hamilton is by far worth the ticket. Both historian Jimmy and actress Eva combine their talents into this outstanding performance and series of plays.

What an amazing performance! Jimmy's lecture is well delivered and reveals a depth of knowledge few others possess. Don't let the word "lecture" scare you, this one is engaging and delivered with humor throughout. More so, it sets the stage for Eva's solo performance where she depicts the difficulties of raising a young Alexander Hamilton in the 18th century Danish West Indies. Having had the privilege of getting to know Eva beforehand we got to literally see her transform in the Lady Faucett and yes! She transforms! Wonderful performance! They are true professionals at their trade. A must see!

What can I say but WOW!!! Jimmy Napoli is a wealth of knowledge and quite mesmerizing when he is talking about his passion, Alexander Hamilton and the creation of our nation. I was fortunate to attend one of his lecture series held in Savannah, Georgia. Jimmy's passion for our nation and the confluences that created it, is immense. The way he weaves the story, you are transported to the time and place of which he is talking about. You really loose yourself in his words. He is a great ambassador for the democratic process and his enthusiasm is matched by none.
After the lecture, Eva Dorrepaal, preformed her one woman play entitled, Raising a Revolutionary: The story of Rachael Faucett, the mother of Alexander Hamilton. Eva is a talented writer and performer who once again captivated me. When she steps out and starts talking, you are transported to the Island of Hamilton's youth. She owns the stage and no one can take their eyes off of her during the 35 minute performance. Her use of stage props, voice inflection and body language is one of a seasoned performer. If you get the opportunity to see her preform you must go! This was the highlight of our trip!! To understand where Hamilton started helps to see why he became the man that is was. It was a fantastic evening!!!

My 11 year old nephew is a huge Hamilton fan but Jimmy kept him engaged and fascinated throughout the 4 hour tour we had on Friday. As he left NYC, the tour remained the highlight of his trip—and I dare say it was mine too! Jimmy shares more information per minute than you think possible but does so with humor, passion and enthusiasm that is remarkable! Hope to have an opportunity to book the Harlem tour on my nephew’s next visit! Thanks Jimmy!

Is this a walking tour? If so, what is the distance walked? Are there places to sit down along the way? I had leg surgery and I'm slow getting around. Taking my teenage granddaughter to New York.

I went on the Harlem Tour. The first hour was a sitting lecture. (Excellent). The next 2 hours involved a lot of walking and stopping on the street, but we did sit at Hamilton's home in Harlem for more information from our guides. If a lot of walking bothers your leg, I'd say do this next time. If its just a matter of being a bit slow, I think the guides would pace things for your convenience. They are very accommodating.

My grade schooler is obsessed with hamilton and we want to do this when my mom comes during February break, but is the content appropriate fir kids? She will eat up the history and government details so I’m not worried about her getting bored but do they focus on the salacious details, affairs etc? Obviously that’s a part of the story and. She is aware but I don’t want her ( or my mom with her) to be uncomfortable with too many off color jokes/stories!

Do you recommend the Wall Street Tour first or the Harlem Tour first. Only have time for one tour on this trip to NY and will take the other next time - but not sure if there is a better order. Thank you! Also, what happens if it's raining that day?

First, the trip happens rain or shine. Second, Jimmy Napoli is the BEST tour guide I've ever had so I don't see how you can go wrong with either one. I think his tours overlap somewhat (we took the Harlem tour and he spoke about Wall Street several times) so pick the one that best fits your schedule.

I think the Wall Street tour will have the most content and you see the cemetery. I loved the uptown tour as I wanted to visit the neighborhood. It was very nice, but if you can only do one- do downtown.

Tour took about 3 hours on the Harlem Hamilton tour. I don't know about the Financial District Hamilton tour. Call them and check?
