You will only be able to be in the museum gift shop and be able to see the few things outside. Like it said, you have to be able to do steps. There are no elevators.

We ended up hiring a car and flying in and out of Dayton - super easy.

The Tru by Hilton checks all the boxes.......3.8 miles away, a fantastic rate, friendly managers in Mike and Missy, an indoor pool, a pool table, free breakfast, safe area, There is a Starbucks (hotel has free Lavazza brand though) and a Meijer across the street for any needs. I also recommend the Amber Rose restaurant for a welcoming old school charmer of an Eastern European restaurant (think pierogies and sauerkraut!) is just 8 miles away, but just before the actual downtown of Dayton.

Also as soon as you walk in (for free!) go through the gift shop area and buy tickets to a 3D movie ahead of time.....and the flight simulators are in hangars 2 and 4 I think! (all extra money but worth it)

If you limit yourself to a specific era that will be enough time. To see the entire museum you literally need several days.
