Nice In Passing
2021年6月 • 家庭
As we were walking through the park I noticed this monument, which I had marked as a possible stop before we arrived. It is a nice memorial, kind of small. But it makes you think of those lives lost. I wouldn’t say it’s work seeking it out but I enjoyed seeing it passing by.

Great piece of U.S. history
2020年9月
I just thought that Washington Square is an urban inner city green sport. However, upon visiting I found a few places and information about the early United State here. The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier of the American Revolution is one. Great place to learn about the American Revolution war that will lead into better appreciation when later visiting the Independence Hall around the corner. Worth every minute of stopping by.

Well done

We stumbled upon this please not an accident but it wasn’t originally on our list of things to do. But once you go you realize the power for history that’s involved here. We took a minute to pay our respects to the people that came before us.

Pretty, but Underwhelming

The Tomb itself is beautiful and worth seeing, but my husband and I had just come from DC and the Tomb of the Unknown at Arlington. Nothing can compare to that experience.

Worth stopping

A must visit. A quiet, thought provoking place to reflect on the great sacrifice so many made. Many with no choice, who stood up for what they believed and lost their lives as a result. There are thousands of soldiers buried on the grounds in a mass unmarked grave.

A fitting memorial to all of those who lost their lives in the fight for freedom of the nation. It sits atop the grave of an unknown soldier and represents many others. The eternal flame burns here. Well worth a visit.

A nice memorial
2019年10月
While you could say there isn't much to see (only a wall and a statue) I think anyone visiting the area should stop by to reflect on the price of freedom. I recommend grouping a visit with also visiting nearby attractions such as Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell. There is so much great history in the Philadelphia area. I don't think it gets enough recognition.

Washington Park is a peaceful place in thr centre of the city. Very clean & plenty of seats to enjoy the peace. The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier has an eternal flame & is a respectful place.

Respect-(finally!)
2019年8月
When I finished working for the city twenty years ago, I decided to visit all of the historical sites in Philadelphia. If you are viewing this place today, then you're lucky. The place use to be very dirty, the flags were torn, and the flame was filled with trash and did not work.It was a disgrace. Think about it for a minute-this is the grave of an unknown soldier who fought for OUR independence. Be reverent and mindful-just as you might be at Arlington National Cemetery. The only thing missing would be someone dressed up as a Revolutionary War soldier standing guard-especially during the summer visitor season.
