Mark was such a great tour guide—kind, informative, and thorough. The Colonials cheesteak tour was 1.5 hours and took us right to our cheese steak lunch spot :). Highly recommend!

I signed up for the 11am Walking Tour and no one showed up to give the tour. There was other people waiting for the tour also who had registered. My friend and I are really disappointed, based on the reviews I was really looking forward to this tour.

What a great way to see downtown Philly! The tour covered Ben Franklin and some basic history of Philly and how it contributes to America becoming a country. It was informative, funny and a nice low key way to learn about the area. Definitely worth it.

Mark was very knowledgeable & shared a lot of helpful tourist info (in addition to the historic sites) with our family. It was a very relaxed yet still engaging tour.

My wife and I had a tour of Old City with Mark, and had such a good time that we decided to go back again when we had family visiting from out of state. These tours are great for any group, whether it's with family, friends, or your significant other. You'll have a great experience and learn plenty of things you didn't know about Philadelphia!

Not much of a review-writer, but my great experience with Mark and Free and Friendly Tours was enough to compel me to write this.
A friend was visiting the city this weekend and we figured a tour would be the best way to take in the sights. We signed up for the Colonial Cheesesteak and Billy Penn tours for the same day. We were skeptical of whether or not we'd enjoy a full afternoon of tours, but since the tours are free, it felt pretty low-risk.
Within the first couple minutes of the tour I knew we made the right choice. Mark was knowledgeable, informative, not to mention super funny and friendly. He made it feel like we were a group of old friends walking the city instead of a formal tour, which made it that much more fun (but still kept it informative!) We toured the typical Old City sights and got overviews of their historical significance. Mark knew the answers to all the questions, and made all the history relatable. We even got kind of meta and discussed the whole Ben Franklin look-alike industry in Philadelphia which was a fun tangent.
Since we and the other two tour attendees had no plans and were planning to attend the afternoon tour as well, Mark improvised a bit, turning the 2 tours + break into one long tour of Center City. It was a blast. I really appreciated his creativity and his willingness to move things around to make the overall experience enjoyable for the guests. Really great, and clearly lives up to the "Friendly" part of the name.
After the ~5 hours we spent with Mark (what a trooper!), my friend and I continued to discuss the tour and how much we enjoyed it. Definitely memorable and definitely would take these or other tours with Mark again.

We had a private group tour with Mark. We toured the historic part of Philadelphia starting from Independence Mall. Mark was extremely knowledgable and gave a very enjoyable tour. It was well worth the time and I highly recommend the tour.

Mark is a warm, knowledgeable young man who gave us a good overview of the downtown area of Philly. A great way to use your time to see some really important historical things and learn a lot of interesting facts.

I went on the Cheese cake tour 16th September 2016, with mark. It was in and around the Independence Hall area. Mark was very polite and had great knowledge of the subject about the revolution of 1776 . Mark even took us inside a Quaker meeting house, where a nice lady gave us a short talk on the Quaker movement of the early period . I would certainly recommend this tour if you have about two hours to spare

My first encounter with free and friendly tours was back in the winter of 2014. Our tour guide John was excellent, and I highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to see the historical highlights, without having to pay the price of every other tour company in Philly. I recently went back on the tour this summer, and let me tell you- nothing has changed. Do yourself a treat and check out free and friendly tours!

In the winter they do not run on a schedule. they will accommodate your party and meet at a location close to the liberty bell based on where your staying contact them and they will work out all the details with you. I believe the warmer months are more on a schedule Enjoy!
