My whole life I have wanted to go to this place to visit the statue also to run up the steps it was amazing it looks just like it did in the film Rocky so pleased I was able to share this with my family.

You can't visit Philadelphia without climbing the famous Rocky Staircase. It is located exactly at the foot of the museum of modern art. On the right in a shady park is the statue. The photo is absolutely a must have. Do you really want to relive the movie? Walk or run along the avenue that separates the City Hall from here. You just have to try. Have a good workout.

If you have seen even once the film is a must, in addition to the statue of the legendary Rocky you can run on the steps where Rocky trained. Panorama to see.

An iconic American movie character immortalized in a statue (I expected it to be even more spectacular) at the main location where the film was filmed.

You can't come to Philadelphia and not see and photograph the statue of Rocky Balboa. Many had the same idea as us since for a selfie with Rocky the line was very long.

There's some parking behind the Philadelphia Museum of Art, but the Art museum is on a traffic circle and getting to the parking can be confusing if you're not familiar with the area. It's a stop in the Hop On Hop Off buses if you are thinking of doing one of those. The Rocky Statue is to the right of the "Rocky Steps" (the ones people run up like Rocky. There's a nice view straight down the Benjamin Franklin Parkway from the top of the steps. BTW, the Art Museum itself is world class.

How difficult would it be to conquer the Rocky Steps? Are they steep? Really wanted to run them but not sure of the fitness level required.

Pay only in sweat and shortness of breath. Awesome view of the city. The statue is free too. But there's always a line. Parking is tough. There are meters along the parkway, and pay lots at the art museum and Franklin institute.

We didn't stay in the city. We stayed in Horsham, where we were able to find a relatively inexpensive hotel that had free parking, breakfast, and wifi. It took us about 30 minutes to drive to Independence Park. If you have a car and you're willing to do a bit of driving, you might consider staying in one of the suburban towns just outside the city.
